Financial Accountant and Office Administrator
Reports to: Assistant Director of Finance
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
BRIEF DESCRIPTION:
The purpose of this position is to provide accounting and administrative support. This position is responsible for monitoring the organization’s accounting records and financial reports, analyzing statistical information and managing payroll processes. This position reports directly to the Assistant Director of Finance.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Manage all financial transactions, including entry of all AR and AP records, recording and entering of general journal entries, and entry of payroll timecards. This position will assist in the daily cash deposit reconciliation and entry, fixed asset management, excise and fuel tax refund preparation, and other accounting tasks.
This position will also assist with preparation for the annual financial audit and will assist in the preparation of the annual financial report.
Carries out administrative duties such as answering phone calls, supporting visitors to METRO, filing, typing, copying, binding, scanning, producing and distributing correspondence memos, letters, faxes and forms, and other administrative duties.
Attend, plan, and coordinate METRO’s monthly Board Meeting. This includes but is not limited to: setting up tables and chairs, call roll, take meeting minutes, and assist in tearing down the meeting room at the conclusion of the meeting.
Maintain supply inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
A successful candidate must possess at least 2 years of college in accounting, business administration or a related course
A minimum of at least 2 years of professional accounting experience.
Work may require providing advice to others outside direct reporting relationships on specific problems or general policies. Contacts may require the consideration of different points of view to reach agreement.
The employee normally performs the duty assignment after receiving general instructions as to methods, procedures, and desired end results. There is some opportunity for discretion when making selections among a few, easily identifiable choices. The assignment is usually reviewed upon completion.
Work requires a comprehensive, practical knowledge of a technical field with use of analytical judgment and decision-making abilities appropriate to the work environment of the organization.
Advanced - Ability to read literature, books, reviews, scientific or technical journals, abstracts, financial reports, and/or legal documents. Ordinarily, such education is obtained at the college level or above. However, it may be obtained from experience and self-study.
Intermediate - Ability to apply fundamental concepts of theories, work with advanced mathematical operations methods, and functions of real and complex variables. Ordinarily, such education is obtained at the college level or above. However, it may be obtained from experience and self-study.
Advanced - Ability to write editorials, journals, speeches, manuals, or critiques. Ordinarily, such education is obtained at the college level or above. However, it may be obtained from experience and self-study.
Intermediate – Ability to navigate Microsoft Office programs, especially Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
KNOWLEDGE:
METRO’s policies, procedures, and functions.
Highly developed communication and presentation skills, both oral and written.
Knowledge of GASB and GAAP rules and regulations.

Advanced word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, and database software

SALARY: The salary range for this position is $45,000 - $50,000, dependent upon experience and credentials.
