The Role: Cloud Engineer - Senior Specialist

The Team:

The S&P Global MI Cloud Engineering Shared Services – Platform Engineering team is looking for a skilled Cloud Engineer – Senior Specialist to join our growing team. We facilitate software development in the 18,000-person Market Intelligence division by owning and managing AWS and vendor-hosted applications including GitLab, Azure DevOps, GitHub, Artifactory, Jira, Confluence, Mend, SonarQube, and TeamCity. As a Cloud Engineer – Senior Specialist, our engineers typically have experience with AWS, Terraform, Python, and/or Linux administration and possess strong problem-solving abilities.

We are currently seeking Cloud Engineers with experience deploying enterprise-level systems to AWS and administering platforms like GitLab, Artifactory, SonarQube, Mend, TeamCity, Azure DevOps, and GitHub. What We're Looking For:

Responsibilities:

• Demonstrate strong proficiency in AWS services, including but not limited to EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, R53, ELB, ALB, and VPC.

• Build, deploy, and manage production workloads, including applications on EC2 instances, administering NGINX, and automating deployments using Terraform.

• Administer Artifactory Enterprise+ including repository replication, permissions management, and multi-site implementations.

• Administer GitLab Premium including admin UI tasks, API scripting, and deployment of the GitLab platform in AWS.

• Implement monitoring and highly available methods to ensure 100% uptime for our services.

• Implement logging strategies to extract usage metrics from the platform.

• Explore solutions, architect, and contribute to the consolidation of multiple IaC strategies across the organization.

• Resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways.

Key Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent work experience with 6 years of experience in cloud computing and applied solutions.

• AWS certification and experience deploying apps using Terraform or CloudFormation.

• Sufficient Linux experience to handle server-side troubleshooting and maintenance (SSH, log file searches, application configuration settings).

• Help the team brainstorm an ideal future state for our CI/CD ecosystem.

• Experience in developing CI/CD pipelines.

• Ability to communicate complex ideas and technological concepts to peers and clients.

• Strong scripting skills in at least two of the following: Python, Bash, or PowerShell.

• Experience in service troubleshooting within Linux operating systems.

Desired Additional Qualifications:

• Preferably with AWS Cloud certifications.

• Experience in DevOps engineering or as a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE).

• Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Datadog and Splunk.

• Experience using source control (Git, GitHub) and feature branching strategies.

• Experience supporting developers with questions or problems related to CI/CD tools.

• Knowledge of DevOps and CI/CD practices and how to implement them with tooling.

• Experience working in a global organization and ability to communicate effectively with users in multiple time zones.

Shift Timing: The selected candidate will be required to work from 11:30 AM to 8:30 PM IST. This schedule allows for substantial overlap with EU business hours and facilitates timely communication and project continuity with our U.S. teams.
