Responsibilities:Receives supervision and direction from the Community Development Director. Effectively communicates with the general public, contractors, developers, and other government agency representatives to mitigate probable code and non-compliant issues. Responds and effectively resolves complaints from the public in a timely manner. Investigates probable non-compliance issues of the Citys Standard Development Code and follows-up with warnings, notices, and citations to ensure compliance. Prepares reports, documents inspections, issues notices of violations, photographs property conditions, and maintains required records up to date. Prepares cases for court actions, assists the City Attorneys Office in determining appropriate disposition of cases, and testifies in court. Researches information, prepares materials, attends and provides technical assistance to the Planning and Zoning Commission, Board of Adjustment, and City Council. Attends training courses to keep abreast of new building codes and new trends in municipal planning; takes an active part in the training process. Performs data entry into automated records systems. Conducts investigations and writes reports of code violations and code complaints from the public. Knowledge of City policies and procedures. Maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and City information. Performs other duties as required or assigned.
