Imbibe Director of Quality in NILES, Illinois

Summary of Position

The Director of Quality will lead Imbibe’s Quality Assurance, Quality Control and Customer & Supplier Compliance teams with integrity and transparency. This role will oversee and provide technical leadership and expertise to the organization and serve as a subject matter expert on all quality related matters. This individual will develop and manage all aspects of the Quality Management System (QMS), build, and manage relationships with customers and suppliers, and serve as the primary point-of-contact for quality.

Essential Job Duties

  • Quality Assurance and Quality Control:

  • Oversee the entire Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain robust quality assurance and quality control programs.

  • Manage quality audits, both internal and external, ensuring timely and effective resolution of findings.

  • Work cross functionally with R&D and Operations to establish product specifications. Provide input on strategy for scope and extent of method validation and justification.

  • Work closely with Turnkey, Commercialization & Engineering team to ensure successful transition from bench top to full scale production.

  • Customer Focus:

  • Serve as the primary communicator for all escalated customer-related quality issues.

  • Ensure customer requirements and expectations are met or exceeded through effective quality and compliance strategies.

  • Supplier Focus:

  • Develop and execute protocols for suppliers of raw materials, ingredients, packaging, and services that assure quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.

  • Drive supplier conformance to meet requirements and ensure compliance through all supporting documentation. (e.g. audits, HACCP / Food Safety Plans, allergen programs, compliance statements, etc.)

  • Lead audits and assessments of company-owned, co-packer, warehouse, and vendor facilities to ensure quality expectations are met.

  • Leadership and Team Management:

  • Lead and mentor the Quality team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, production, and marketing, to ensure quality and compliance are integrated into all aspects of product development and commercialization.

  • Provide training and guidance on quality matters to staff at all levels of the organization.

    Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology, or a related field

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in quality assurance and quality control in the beverage or flavor manufacturing industry.

  • Strong knowledge of industry regulations, including FDA, FSMA, CFSI and other relevant standards.

  • Proven leadership experience with a track record of building and leading high-performing teams.

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

  • Proficiency in quality management software and tools.

    Preferred Qualifications

  • MS degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology, or a related field

    Working Conditions

  • Hybrid work-model

  • Up to 25% travel required.
