CONTEXT OF THE JOB:

Under the limited direction of the Engineering Research Supervisor, the Research Assistant III applies principles of standardization and engineering. Specifically, the equipment and systems modeling of high-capacity EV charging systems will require knowledge of International EV standards and a proven ability to write and publish standards.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct independent standardization research and development using sound engineering principles.

  • Gather and evaluate data, translate findings, and contribute to publications.

  • Share research outcomes at various professional forums, from local to international stages.

  • Formulate and oversee experimental protocols to assess and refine control strategies.

  • Develop and maintain software to aid in data management and model simulations.

  • Work collaboratively with team members to produce joint research publications.

  • Report on research progress and breakthroughs to stakeholders.

  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field and four years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Experience with International EV standards, high-capacity EV charging systems for medium to heavy-duty vehicles, and professional engagement within the medium to heavy-duty automotive industry.

  • Familiarity with differential geometry and mechanics in practical applications is preferred.

  • Knowledge of research methodology, principles and procedures, the use and maintenance of laboratory facilities and equipment, scientific approach and methodologies, and current technological and scientific developments/trends.

  • Experience with data analyses, interpretation, summarization, and presentation.

  • Experience in developing scientific reports and manuscripts based on original research, investigating and analyzing information from simulation and experimental data to draw inferences on effectiveness of applied strategies, and assisting in the coordination of the activities of a large research team.

  • Ability to gather and analyze data and generate reports, use independent judgment to adapt and modify research concepts and approaches to specific projects, develop and follow research methodology and protocol, and to understand, follow and enforce safety procedures.

  • Capacity to learn and apply new skills swiftly. Team-player mindset with an ability to effectively contribute to multidisciplinary projects.

  • Excellent presentation skills, along with the capability to prepare and deliver clear and impactful scientific reports.

  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.

  • Demonstrates an understanding and consideration of the differing needs and concerns of individuals with varying identities, cultures, and backgrounds.
