Position Summary
Under the direction of the Senior Director for Administration and Operations, the College of Dental Medicine is searching for a detailed oriented and knowledgeable Predoctoral Clinical Manager to provide day-to-day operational oversight of Predoctoral DDS Teaching Clinic.
Responsibilities
The Predoctoral Clinical Manager will be responsible for, but not limited to:
- Oversee daily operations of predoctoral DDS teaching clinic. Manage staff coverage coordination, time-off and attendance, and schedule changes.
- Conduct daily assessment of check in and checkout processes. Review eligibility and insurance verification as needed. Knowledgeable on copays, coinsurance, and deductibles for commercial and governmental plans.
- Responsible for managing patient flow through the Predoctoral program and ensure that patients are seen in a timely manner.
- Excellent customer care and focus; ability to assess customers' needs and provide answers, paths, troubleshooting help, or methods for a positive customer experience
- Communicates and explains new directives, policies, or procedures to staff; for major changes, meets with DDS operations staff to explain changes, answer questions, and maintain morale.
- Point of contact with escalated concerns brought on by patients, faculty, staff and students.
- Direct, trains, and supervises SIEU 1199 support staff in DDS clinics that will include: Dental Assistants, Dental Receptionist, etc.
- Ensures that office is staffed appropriately. Assist in recruitment, hiring, orientation, development, and performance management.
- Provide the Senior Director for Administration and Operations a monthly analysis of operational issues.
- Handle cash management along with all related check-in and check-out functions.
- Work with leadership team and external groups including facilities to assess equipment needs and purchasing.
- Provide leadership and Human Resources updates on staff concerns and labor relations issues. Work with Human Resources on disciplinary actions related staff matters and corrective action plans.
- Manage staff time and attendance tracking through Kronos. Escalate payroll related issues to Finance Manager as needed.
- Assure overall compliance of all internal and external regulatory requirements including infection control and environmental safety.
- Ensures appropriate policies and procedure are followed.
- Performs other tasks as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent in education, training and experience, plus four years of relevant experience. (Equivalency for no bachelor's degree is 10 years of related experience).
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree
- Experience working with EPIC
Other Requirements
- Experience working in union environments.
- Knowledge with Article 28 Medicaid Dental billing
- Effective leadership, organizational, and project management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. Able to mentor staff and foster great working relationships with the team and other units.
- Strong analytical, communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
