The New York Times Company Lead Product Designer in New York, New York

Support high-level product strategy. Create documentation (e.g. user journeys, experience maps, wireframes, frameworks) to facilitate conversations, build consensus, and help make decisions. Take product ideas and hone them into multiple solutions and concrete approaches, then collaboratively narrow ideas and establish requirements. Contribute to and inform research plans, methodologies, and test strategies. Create artifacts for experimentation and user testing and apply any insights to designs. Create production-ready design deliverables that use existing or new patterns as needed. Collaborate with engineers to assure the visual quality of our output. Use browser developer tools to fine-tune user interface elements. Contribute to team and product design rituals. Represent design in recruiting and interviewing for the broader team. Role holder can be hybrid and/or remote upon Manager approval but must work eastern time zone hours.SALARY:$168,000 to $173,000 per yearRequirements: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Visual Communication, Design or a closely related field and 4 years of experience in the field. Must have experience in/with: designing digital products—both websites and apps; leading design efforts, operating as the sole or head designer on projects; designing solutions that build a habit or motivate a user to take an action or return to a product; iterating on designs and making visual choices based on data or user insights or competitive research that express brand guidelines and align with iOS or Android native design conventions; planning user research or A/B experiments and creating corresponding prototypes or artifacts; applying existing design systems to design and contribute back to that system; understanding of modern HTML & CSS and app interface guidelines, and current development philosophies/methodologies for building consumer products; and proficiency in Figma or Sketch.
