Job Description
General Scope of Duties
Under supervision of the Payroll Manager, the Payroll Assistant will ensure accurate processing and recording of the College’s payroll, provide timely and accurate tax and wage garnishment payments, daily data entry and perform related work as required.
General Duties and Responsibilities
Prepare and process bi-weekly payrolls (Staff, Faculty and Student). Including, but not limited to:
Off site student workers ( USCGA )
Deduction set ups
Vacation pay outs
One Time payments/adjustments
Distributing reports to other departments as needed
Prepare and process payments for all tax deposits, wage garnishments and other vendors as need for each payroll
Maintain approvers/proxies within Banner for EPAF and Web Time Entry SSB student payroll
Handle all direct deposit and W4 data entry accurately and respond to employee inquiries
Review and initiate all wage garnishments with guidance from Payroll Manager
Basic understanding of how Dayforce Time & Attendance system works for employees and managers, and have the ability to respond to questions
Respond to calls and visitors by providing information, assistance and/or direct to appropriate personnel
Maintain, and keep current, all employee and student document filing related to Payroll
Order and inventory equipment and office supplies
Education and Skills
High School Diploma required with 1 – 3 years experience in payroll processing
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to interact well with a variety of people from all aspects of the College and community
Working knowledge of Banner
Proficient in Microsoft Office
High integrity needed to handle confidential information
Knowledge of general office equipment
Attention to detail
Well-organized, able to work under pressure, plan and accomplish goals
No travel
