Position Description

PAR Technology has an exciting opportunity! The Senior Manager, Research & Development Finance plays a crucial role in supporting intelligent, financially sound decision making for Research & Development as well as other OpEx Groups. This person will have demonstrated strong accounting, financial analytical skills, Business Acumen (Enterprise Technology and Multi-Product technology company), and the ability to think strategically. This role demands a strategic thinker with exceptional financial acumen, ready to roll up their sleeves and lead by example. Deep dive analysis, weekly metrics reporting, and trend analysis is all part and parcel of this position.Fundamental to the role is helping R&D make the right decisions going forward!

What We're Looking For:

  • A minimum of 7+ years of experience in accounting and/or financial planning & analysis is required; with dual experience in both disciplines
  • Prior team leadership experience required
  • Prior experience within the SaaS industry or fast-growing technology companies is required
  • Strong knowledge of SW Capitalization and experience in supporting an engineering organization is required
  • Strong finance skills, analytical problem-solving ability, and solid business acumen
  • Prior experience in calculating SaaS Metrics (CAC:LTV, CARR, Rule of 40 etc.)
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or business (MBA would be a plus)
  • Independent thinking and the ability to use data and business acumen to drive decisions.
  • Passion for using data to drive better decision making and connecting operational metrics with financial results.
  • Strong partnership and influence skills
  • Great presentation and communication skills
  • Demonstrated understanding of the nuances of FP&A in rapidly changing environment, including monthly and quarterly updates, and rolling forecasts
  • The ability to work collaboratively across organizations and functions while utilizing resources effectively.

What You'll Do:

  • Own complete support of the Research & Development Business Unit including:
    • Partner with the Chief Technology Officer and staff to increase efficiency in line with business objectives
    • Partner with Executive team including Finance, Legal, HR, IT, Sales, and Marketing
    • Establish FinOps practices and partner with R&D leadership to manage and optimize our cloud costs across the different business units
    • Support Headcount planning including efficiency efforts.
    • Monthly accounting close process (will be responsible for some journal entries and reconciliations/controls)
    • Monthly managerial reporting (Budget vs. Actuals), P&L, Department Statements, Revenue, Gross Margin, OpEx analyses)
    • Monthly forecast process for Cost of Sales, Comp & Non-Comp spending
    • Deep dive into business analytics providing actional insights to the executive management.
    • Annual Budgeting Process
    • Provide spending and Head Count approvals/analyses.
  • Be a mini-CFO to the R&D Leader and tell the narrative from month to month, quarter to quarter, year to year etc....
  • Coordinate Monthly and Quarterly Business updates presented to PAR senior management.
  • Use Planful Management Reporting System to analyze actuals and input updated forecasts.
  • Look for opportunities to enable real time reporting through Power Bi or other data visualization tools.
  • Help Commercial Finance be recognized as thought leaders in helping the business focus on things that matter most.
  • Drive financial accountability and ensure that our OpEx groups hit their operating plans.

The base salary range for this position is $130,000 to $150,000 USD per year commensurate with work location, experience, skills, certifications, education, and prior accomplishments.

The position may be eligible for additional compensation, including a bonus, commission and/or equity, as applicable.
