The Department of Physics and Astronomy/SAS at Rutgers University plans to hire a Postdoctoral Associate in the field of experimental condensed matter physics to work on a project related to spectroscopic studies of unconventional density waves and superconductivity in quasi-2D materials in Prof. Girsh Blumberg's group.

Prof. Blumberg's group specializes in low energy electrodynamics in solids with strong electron correlations. The experimental techniques include Raman and optical spectroscopies at ultra-low frequencies. The areas of interest center on various exotic electronic states of matter at low temperatures, including unconventional superconductors, quantum magnets, topological insulators, materials in proximity to quantum critical points, to name a few. Considerable flexibility can be built into research program of a postdoctoral applicant.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience

The ideal applicants should have a Ph.D. in condensed matter physics and experience in the physics of strongly correlated electron systems as well as related THz spectroscopic tools including Raman and optical spectroscopies, but strong applicants with other backgrounds would be considered as well. Applicants should submit a CV with publication list, a brief statement of research interests (upload to "research statement" in application), and the names of three references.
