SC&A Inc Air Quality Engineer/Scientist with Expertise in Source Testing and Ambient Monitoring in NC, United States
SC&A Inc., a small employee-owned business that provides environmental and energy consulting services to public and private clients, is looking for a mid- or senior-level environmental engineer/scientist/analyst with 10+ years of work experience in the air pollution field with expertise in EPA test methods and performance specifications. SC&A has offices in Arlington, VA and Chapel Hill, NC, although we are very flexible and many of our staff work remotely. We are primarily seeking to fill a part-time position.
Candidates must be legally eligible to work in the United States.
Role Responsibilities:
The candidate will support projects evaluating air quality stack test methods and performance specifications, and ambient monitoring techniques. These will include existing reference methods and emerging testing and monitoring techniques. Candidate will execute technical tasks, participate in on-site testing/monitoring programs, perform literature/internet searches, prepare written summaries of technical materials, and draft memoranda, presentations, and reports. Responsibilities may also include assisting in stakeholder outreach activities related to testing/monitoring. The candidate will work as part of project teams.
Educational Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree (or above) in Science or Engineering.
Skill Requirements:
Essential Skills
The candidate must possess knowledge and experience of air pollution testing and monitoring methods, as well as performance specifications. They must also possess excellent communication skills, including the ability to be prepare high-quality written materials. The candidate must be a motivated self-starter that is comfortable working and learning independently but that also enjoys collaborating with colleagues and clients. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required. The candidate should have familiarity with the basic concepts of air pollution, including air pollution emission sources, emission calculations, and control techniques.
Desired Skills
Familiarity with air pollution regulations.
Understanding of air emissions and mitigation techniques.
Proficiency in database software (including open source software).
