Position Summary/Description:

Under the direction of the Associate Director of Athletic Training Services, the staff athletic trainer is responsible for the day to day medical coverage for the Women’s Lacrosse program. The ideal candidate will have experience with women’s lacrosse, including: injury prevention, human movement correction, and be able to play an active role in providing health care and athletic training services for student-athletes. Provide standard immediate care procedures used in emergency situations; clinical evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation and reconditioning. Employ appropriate assessment outcomes measures to determine effectiveness of the outreach program; determines appropriate return to play of student-athletes and active population. Management of head injuries and concussions; referral to appropriate medical professionals to ensure optimal level of care; all duties and responsibilities performed under the supervision of a directing physician. Provides mentorship for immersion athletic training students as well as observers and other students. Under a medical model, this position works collaboratively with the Sports Performance Team as well as Campus Health Services to ensure service excellence for all students-athletes as well as the campus community.

Education and Experience:

  • Master’s Degree

    • The ideal candidate will have experience with women’s lacrosse, including: injury prevention, human movement correction, and be able to play an active role in providing health care and athletic training services for student-athletes.

Essential Skills:

  • The Athletic Trainer will be bound by the Athletic Trainer Licensure Act (G.S. 90-525, 528).

    • Current athletic training certification by the Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainer ( BOC ).

    • Currently licensed or eligible for a State of North Carolina License in Athletic Training.

    • Must be able to work independently
