Naval Air Systems Command SECURITY SPECIALIST in Naval Air Station San Diego, California

Summary You will serve as a SECURITY SPECIALIST in the Security Office, Command Operations, Fleet Readiness Center Southwest (FRCSW) of FLEET READINESS CENTER SOUTHWEST. Responsibilities You will assist with security training and position sensitivity classification. You will receive requests for security clearances and apply appropriate DoD regulations regarding the type of Personnel Security Investigation required. You will prepare necessary reports, investigative packets and maintain personnel security clearance records. You will implement command security procedures for the protection of classified and sensitive unclassified information. You will evaluate effectiveness of the existing Physical Security posture in support of agency mission, goals, and objectives. You will recommend the type of security measures, control requirements, procedures, and facilities needed. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-09) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Applying security concepts, principles and practices to administer a security program and resolve security issues. Examples of specialized experience include: 1) Implementing security procedures for the protection of classified and sensitive unclassified information for an organization or assigned program; 2) Interpreting and applying agency guidelines, regulations, and policies; 3) Applying in-depth working knowledge of a variety of standard and state-of-the-art security equipment, systems, and devices to recommend appropriate protective methods and security procedures; and 4) Conducting physical security surveys and vulnerability assessments to identify deficiencies within the program. Or You have successfully completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree. Or You have successfully completed three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent degree. Or You have successfully completed an LL.M. degree that is related to the position being filled. Or You have a combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience. Your percentage of the required education plus your percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent.
