Job Summary and Qualifications

In this role you will:

• Assists the Coding Analysis Management in the creation, review, and improvement of processes, policies and procedures, education, and services.

• Assists the Coding Analysis Management in data collection, compilation, analysis, and trending of facility-specific and enterprise-level CAC precision and recall data.

• Assists the Coding Analysis Management in identifying CAC risks and opportunities and identifying medical record documentation improvement opportunities as needed to improve the CAC system precision and recall performance.

• Recommends and validates enhancements via 3M releases and updates.

• Supports the development of new analysis tools and reports.

• Performs corrective action follow-up and/or additional research in the evaluation, selection, and maintenance of coding risks; and opportunities related to NLP and CAC products and services.

• Assists the Coding Analysis Management with modifications to clinical phrases, grammar, coding system rules, and region titles and conducts statistical modeling post modifications to the NLP engine to improve precision and recall rates as needed.

• Provides NLP and CAC subject matter expertise on CAC topics, e.g., tools and resources, data collection and reporting, clinical documentation improvement, and education.

• Provides medical record subject matter expertise and context interpretation to support NLP development and enhancement.

• Recommends modifications to clinical phrases, grammar, coding system rules, and region titles for the NLP engine to improve precision and recall rates as needed.

• Participates in regular discussions with computer-assisted coding vendor partner

• Tracks, trends, and summarizes data to report outcomes across the enterprise

• Learns upcoming enhancements and communicates these items within the organization.

• Works frequently with technical teams on product updates, software configuration, and inclusion or exclusion of documents in order to support all computer-assisting coding functionality.

What you will need:

• Undergraduate degree in HIM/HIT required. Bachelor’s degree required, ideally in areas like HIM, Data Analysis or Management, Business Administration, or Change Management.

• A minimum of 5 years of acute care inpatient/outpatient coding experience is required.

• Consulting or proven work experience in areas of coding quality data analytics, project management, and data management is strongly preferred.

• RHIA, RHIT, and/or CCS preferred
