The Amazon Business team is dedicated to developing solutions that make procurement easy for businesses. Managed Spend Strategists are an integral component to the team, having a pivotal role in qualifying and pursuing Managed Spend deals for our most important customers. To do so, you will work with many AB functions including Customer Advisors, Product, Legal, Operations, Finance, Sourcing teams. You will manage a pipeline of the most complex opportunities, facilitate cross functional reviews to make pursue/not pursue decisions (deal desk ownership). From there you will support developing compelling responses to those opportunities we decide to pursue and securing AB EU Leadership approval in Luxembourg. You will also be responsible for monitoring and reporting on progress, including oral and written presentations to AB’s EU senior leadership in Luxembourg, and for developing scalable/repeatable deal management processes. As the Spot Buy specialist for the team, you will lead the Spot buy (bulk order) deal flow, from owning process improvements and stakeholder management of partner teams, setting targets for the EU and auditing its performance, and representing this program in leadership reviews.

The ideal candidate possesses demonstrated proposal management and program/project management experience necessary to effectively support a high growth business. They will be able to solve business and technical requirements for our customer and partners, working with internal teams to quickly build the best proposal. Successful candidates will be able to oversee a commercial program (Spotbuys) end to end, from setting reasonable goals, building audit mechanisms to track with partner teams and senior leaders, while identify new commercial or product improvements to drive step changes in the growth of the program.

This role can be located in the following AB locations: London (UK), Munich (Germany), Paris (France), Milan (Italy) or Madrid (Spain) or Luxembourg.

Please note for this role you will be required to come to the office three days a week.

Key job responsibilities

As Spot Buy Specialist:

• Lead the deal flow execution of Customers’ spot buy requests with support from partner teams

• Working backwards from the voice of the customer, optimize existing processes and develop new scalable/repeatable mechanisms

• Use mechanisms to collect and analyze feedback from customers, invent and simplify to propose new offerings on their behalf, and Deliver Results by owning end-to-end their execution.

• Own GTM of new programs to drive customer adoption and spend

• Develop the right metrics to track program success and impact. Develop documents, reporting and mechanisms to provide visibility on the program to AB Leaders

• Drive recurring meetings to review metrics including investigation quality, service level agreements, and system misses. Identify root causes and create action plans to address. Hold team members accountable for progress on key program actions.

• Perform in-depth data analysis to form and deliver actionable recommendations for both short- and long-term Spotbuy strategy

• Relay back customer needs and requirements to internal Amazon teams incl. Sales, Product Management, Technical and Category Management teams, and Leadership

• Take active role in shaping innovative approaches to solve customer issues and present these to Amazon leadership to prioritize solutions for your customers and drive growth

• Educate Customer Advisors on best practices to identify large-scale opportunities and navigate proposal management processes to produce winning proposals

As Managed Spend Strategist:

• Lead the workflows to qualify and pursue select Customer Deal Opportunities by qualifying the deals and for those you pursue, creating and executing a proposal plan in partnership with key internal stakeholders/subject matter experts (e.g. Customer Advisor, Product, Legal, Finance, sourcing teams, etc.) and securing leadership approval

• Be a thought leader with preparing/developing deal responses, win themes, technical discriminators, pricing, etc.

• Working backwards from the voice of the customer, optimize existing deal qualification and pursuit processes and develop new scalable/repeatable mechanisms

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent

  • Several years of program or project management experience

  • Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements

  • Experience owning program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership

  • Customer-focused and self-motivated with a great sense of urgency and follow-through

  • Ability to work effectively across internal and external organizations

  • Experience with Microsoft Office products and applications

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of procurement and source to pay processes and solutions or equivalent experience

  • Experience in B2B or enterprise sales including hunting new business

  • Experience with sales CRM tools such as Salesforce or similar software

  • Proficiency in German and/or French
