Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Research Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in assessing mobility and function based clinical outcomes. Under the direction of the Research Lead, the Research Assistant will be involved in conducting experiments and assisting in clinical research studies at the Physiatry section at Children s Specialized Hospital (CSH). Activities will include subject recruitment and testing, data collection and analysis, literature review, help with Institutional Review Board (IRB) submissions, and grant applications. Research populations include, but are not limited to, chronic pain, cerebral palsy, brain injury, spinal cord injury, neuromuscular disorders, and musculoskeletal conditions. Research assistant position is primarily located in Mountainside, NJ.
Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor's degree in kinesiology, exercise science, biomedical engineering or a related discipline
Must complete Human Subjects Research training upon hire and maintain certificate throughout employment
At least two to three years of related clinical research experience
Strong organizational and communication skills (verbal and written) with ability to effectively work with potential participants and parents, supervisors and study team, clinicians and collaborators, and hospital staff
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to details, especially with study protocol administration and data collection, and strong ability to identify problems or inconsistencies and alert supervisor in a timely manner
Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, Virtual Conference Platforms)
Knowledge of statistical software (e.g., SPSS) and experience with descriptive statistical analysis
Experience in data management with a variety of data sources (e.g., survey, administrative, or medical data)
Ability to work well with variety of organizations and personnel with compassion, tact and clarity
Preferred:
- Clinical research experience in pediatrics
Certifications and Licenses Required:

Scheduling Requirements:
Full Time
40 hours/week
Hybrid partial remote position
Essential Functions:
Assist with the design, implementation, and analysis of clinical research studies focused on mobility and functional outcomes
Review medical records for recruitment and data collection
Recruit, screen, enroll participants, and provide participants and caregivers with sufficient information about the study
Obtain consent forms, monitor data collection, administer and score patient (or caregiver) reported outcomes as well as administer performance-based tests when required
Assume responsibility for all documents generated during the course of the study and input all data related to the subject visit, manage electronic and paper databases, and safeguard the safety and the right to privacy for study participants
Assist with data management and statistical analysis
Conduct literature searches and assist with manuscript preparation
Collaborate with research team members to ensure project goals and deadlines are met
Maintain documents required for the regulatory binder, investigative drug binder and any other document repositories required by the research lead, or regulatory entities
Assist with activities related to grant preparation, IRB requirements, and lab organization
Travel between CSH sites and attendance/recruitment at some community events
Work with CSH Research Department and clinical and non-clinical CSH staff, patients/families, prospective subjects from the community, and community agencies
