Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Machine Learning, Data Science, Information Management, Computer Science, or an engineering discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 10 years of experience in data science or other quantitative fields (statistics, Machine Learning, engineering, etc.).

  • Experience working cross-functionally.

  • Experience using data insights to drive product improvements.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Machine Learning, Data Science, Information Management, Computer Science, or an engineering discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

  • Innovative problem solver that can turn ambiguous problem spaces into clear solutions; comfort with new technologies and thinking outside the box to develop and implement short and long-term solutions.

  • Ability to influence without authority, working on and with technical and cross-functional or highly matrixed teams who do not report into this role to get things done.

  • Entrepreneurial drive and with experience developing high-growth technology products and services.

  • Ability to handle organizational complexities.

The Data & Growth Science Team enables innovation at scale via rigorous, scientific and consistent use of data to inform business decisions and product development for Google. Our overarching mission is to drive product excellence, quality, and user growth for our Knowledge & Information businesses with impactful metrics, data insights, predictive models, experimentation, and analytics.

As the Director of Data and Growth Science for Consumer Shopping, you will lead a dynamic team driving data-driven strategies in the realm of consumer behavior, product development, and Applied AI. Your expertise in data science, consumer insights, commerce, and market expansion will shape the future of our consumer shopping experience and drive growth in new markets. Inspired by industry leaders in the consumer shopping space, you will pioneer innovative strategies to enhance user experience, optimize product functionalities, and maximize growth opportunities.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $253,000-$363,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.   • Lead the development and implementation of advanced analytics techniques to extract actionable insights, optimize product features, personalize user experiences, and enhance product relevance. Establish KPIs, metrics, and performance dashboards to monitor key business metrics.

  • Identify and evaluate growth opportunities within the consumer shopping vertical through market research and competitor analysis. Collaborate with product teams to design and launch innovative features and initiatives that drive user engagement, retention, and business growth. Develop scalable growth strategies.

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive data-driven strategy for consumer shopping, based on rapid experimentation best practices, aligning with company goals. Drive cross-functional collaboration to prioritize initiatives and ensure seamless execution.

  • Attract, retain, and develop top talent in data science, analytics, and growth marketing. Provide mentorship, guidance, and professional development opportunities, fostering a culture of innovation, diversity, inclusion and collaboration.
