EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
To assure the smooth and efficient operation of the school office so that the maximum positive impact on the education of the children can be realized.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Under general supervision of the Principal, the Elementary Administrative Assistant performs the following responsibilities within the overarching framework of the[Insert District Name]mission and vision.
- Performs the usual office routines and practices associated with a busy, yet productive and smoothly run office.
- Greets all visitors courteously and directs or escorts them to the proper person.
- Answers office telephone and responds appropriately to request for information.
- Reports immediately the presence in the building of any visitor who by-passes the office and/or any suspicious activity or activity or unusual behavior on the part of the visitor.
- Types a variety of materials such as announcements, letters, student's records, memos, etc.
- Coordinate and file all parental notes and excuses.
- Maintains a regular filing system.
- Registers all new students planning on attending the elementary building.
- Turn in proper reports to the Superintendent's Secretary.
- Distributes all copies of informational letters to parents, lunch menus, etc. to proper places.
- Maintains cumulative student records as required.
- Keeps daily attendance and all student information in the computer program up to date in accordance with all Iowa State regulations. (i.e., data used for Project EASIER, BEDS, Perkins, etc.)
- Handles first aid of students that come to the office.
- Accepts constructive criticism and suggestions and seeks to improve each performance responsibility.
- Cooperate with and work in a courteous manner with co-workers and personnel.
- Demonstrate a positive attitude toward school, students and job and communicate the same to the community.
- Maintain confidentiality in the school operation.
- Adhere to applicable state and federal laws, rules and regulations, board policies and administrative rules.
- Assumes other such duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the Principal.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES DESIRED:
Preferred Education and Licensure:
- An earned high school diploma.
- Working knowledge of basic office procedures and the operation of common office equipment and machines.
- Other qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Additional Education and Licensure to Consider:
- Possess a valid driver's license
Knowledge and Skills:
- Demonstrates strong organizational and communication skills
- Demonstrates proficiency in typing.
- Ability to apply problem solving strategies to issues involving daily work
