Robert Half Payroll Specialist in Moss Landing, California
Description We are offering a long term contract employment opportunity for a Payroll Specialist in Moss Landing, California. The Payroll Specialist plays a crucial role in our team, handling a range of tasks from processing payroll and managing insurance payments, to maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations.
Responsibilities:
• Accurately process and manage payroll, including adjustments and alternate pay rates, using accounting software systems.
• Oversee and reconcile insurance payments related to employee benefits, including retirement contributions, health savings account contributions, and garnishments.
• Timely prepare and reconcile quarterly and annual payroll filings, including federal form 941 and CA DE9, and annual forms W-2 and W-3.
• Maintain accurate records of employee transactions related to payroll, including authorized deductions, taxed fringe benefits such as gift cards, and transfers of labor between projects.
• Monitor and understand employee benefits for compliance with ACA and changes in status, including health care eligibility, leave accrual, and retirement eligibility.
• Conduct monthly reconciliation of payroll accounts to ensure zero accounts are properly maintained and balances tie to supporting schedules.
• Participate in external audits by maintaining required payroll schedules for review, providing schedules, and pulling necessary support from auditor selections. Requirements • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Payroll Specialist or in a similar role.
• Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems is mandatory.
• Experience with ADP - Financial Services is required.
• Familiarity with ADP Workforce Now is highly desirable.
• Knowledge in 401k - RRSP Administration is necessary.
• Experience with About Time software is preferred.
• Strong understanding of general Accounting Functions is essential.
• Previous experience in Auditing is a plus.
• Ability to handle Benefit Functions effectively.
• Experience in Benefits Payroll is highly valued.
