Quad Mechanical Design Engineer in United States

The Mechanical Design Engineer will play a critical role in designing and developing mechanical systems and components for Quad's advanced in-store retail media solutions. This position requires a blend of creativity and technical expertise to ensure that all mechanical designs meet both aesthetic and functional requirements while adhering to practical manufacturing practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and Engineer mechanical systems for AV/IT products and components such as Mounting Systems, Decorative & Protective Shrouds, Adapter Plates, and Equipment Enclosures.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineers, product managers, field engineers, customer support resources, and sales representatives to identify full breadth of the design initiative.

  • Determine scope, level of effort, cost, and timeframe for design, manufacturing, prototyping, and final product delivery of all mechanical elements.

  • Utilize Solidworks, Fusion, Sketchup, Autocad or similar 3D Modeling software to create detailed 3D models and technical drawings for parts and assemblies.

  • Create ISO and Exploded views of the final mechanical assemblies for documentation packages and install guides.

  • Work with 3rd party vendors to coordinate the specifications, deliverable timelines, drawing format & versioning, shipping of final product, and all details associated with product delivery.

  • Oversee the prototyping and testing phases to evaluate product functionality for field deployment.

  • Provide technical support during the Engineering, Manufacturing, and Installation process to ensure designs are accurately implemented.

  • Create and maintain a mechanical product catalog of variations, iterations, and historical sku’s for internal and external departmental reference.

  • Continuously improve designs based on feedback from stakeholders and performance data collected from market deployments.

Job Requirements & Skills:

Appropriate education and/or experience may be substituted on an equivalent basis

  • Proven track record of mechanical design, particularly within commercial electronics industries.

  • Proficiency in 3D (and 2D) Modeling software such as Solidworks, Fusion, Sketchup, Autocad or similar.

  • Strong understanding of structural engineering, industrial products, material strength and tolerances, manufacturing/fabrication processes, and mechanical principles relevant to product design.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think creatively.

  • Meticulous attention to detail and a strong commitment to delivering high-quality work.

  • Strong organizational and project management skills, capable of leading projects from concept through to production.

  • Ability to adapt to new technologies and stay informed on current industry trends.

  • Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams and communicate complex ideas clearly.

  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

  • Experience with prototype fabrication techniques such as 3D printing, CNC machining, and injection molding.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Industry certifications like ASME or NCEES

  • Structural engineering certifications, such as SE licensure or SEI certifications

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or other relevant certification is advantageous.

  • Familiarity with AV related products such as Kiosks, Totems, Displays, A-Frames, and similar technology.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 6-10 years’ experience in mechanical engineering with a focus on product design and development.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
