Find out more about our outstanding works and contributions today at: https://wvumedicine.org/rni/rni-homepage/newsroom/ About the Opportunity The Department of Neuroscience/Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute is seeking a Laboratory Research Technician, joint between the laboratories of Morgan Bridi and Michelle Bridi. The selected candidate will support projects related to synapse and circuit function in models of stroke. The labs employ several neurophysiological approaches utilizing mouse models, including in vivo imaging, sleep studies, behavioral testing, and physiological recordings from acute brain slices. What you'll do: Establish and administer day-to-day laboratory operations including: ensuring safety compliance, maintaining proper operation of research equipment, inventory and ordering of required supplies, and general housekeeping Perform day-to-day laboratory research activities such as: animal surgeries and injections; daily observations of animal health; collection of biological specimens; breeding colony maintenance; PCR and DNA extractions; histopathological processing and immunofluorescence of mouse tissues; behavioral testing. May be assigned independent project(s) and participate in the design of research studies, compile and analyze research data Perform other related duties as assigned Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Biology, Psychology, Neuroscience, or related field; OR an equivalent combination of education and directly related experience. A minimum of six (6) months experience in a neuroscience research lab setting. Some experience with mice in a laboratory setting is preferred. General knowledge of the principles and practices of natural/biological sciences Effective oral and written communication Ability to wear and work in personal protective equipment Ability to transport and stock laboratory supplies Ability to work with biohazardous materials and hazardous chemicals, successfully complete applicable safety training, and potentially undergo related medical monitoring Requirements Due to the nature of this job, it may or may not require Medical Monitoring About Research Corporation The WVURC was created as a not-for-profit corporation in 1985...
