WSP USA Technician, water treatment systems in Montreal, Quebec

The Opportunity

WSP Applied Solutions is looking for a technician in operation and maintenance, water treatment systems and environmental rehabilitation to join its team based in Montreal.

As part of the O&E Systems team, the technician in operation and maintenance, water treatment systems and environmental rehabilitation will be called upon to intervene in various water treatment and environmental rehabilitation projects to carry out tasks associated with the installation and operation and maintenance of different technologies and equipment used for rehabilitation and water treatment. They will also participate in the construction of mobile treatment units at the WSP Applied Solutions systems assembly workshop in Longueuil.

This work is mainly carried out in the Montreal area but may require regular travel to sites, mainly in Quebec.

What You Can Expect to Do:

  • Comply with various work instructions and directives, protocols and procedures arising from our health and safety systems, quality control, as well as company policies;

  • Ensure the proper functioning of equipment both mechanically and in terms of project performance expectations;

  • Perform operation and maintenance of water, air, and soil treatment equipment according to maintenance schedules;

  • Participate in the installation and fabrication of treatment equipment;

  • Provide support to other technicians if necessary;

  • Perform varied manual work (plumbing, electromechanics, mechanics, etc., instrumentation, calibration, …);

  • Sample raw or treated waters;

  • Participate in the continuous improvement of operation & maintenance and system fabrication procedures;

  • Supervise subcontractors associated with operation & maintenance and system fabrication activities;

  • Participate in process optimization and cost reduction;

  • Record and compile relevant technical data;

  • Complete follow-up forms and write activity reports.

What You Bring to WSP:

  • AEC or DEP in water treatment, electromechanics, or related field;

  • 4 to 8 years of experience;

  • Bilingualism is an asset;

  • Basic knowledge of mechanics as well as hydraulic and electrical systems;

  • An interest in automation, remote system control would be considered an asset;

  • Have the ASP Construction certification for safety on construction sites;

  • Autonomous, reliable, and organized person, equally capable of working alone or in a team;

  • Basic knowledge of Word and Excel software;

  • Hold a valid driver’s license.
