We are building out a strong regional perspective to our organization, where we will make our full range of capabilities and services available to our clients locally, drawing on our deep expertise present in other parts of the country, as well as elsewhere around the world. WSP in Canada’s operation is comprised of three major Regions - Ontario and Atlantic Canada, Quebec, and Western Canada and Territories. We are currently looking for candidates both internally and externally to fill the vacant Regional Leader position in Quebec.

Our Sector, Regional, and Local Leaders collaborate with a “think out” vs. “think in” approach to drive strong organic growth and collaboration across Canada. With this collaborative structure in place, we can present unified strategic solutions to our clients with strong regional and local leadership and management.

The Regional Leader will provide strategic direction to the Region by understanding the key growth levers of the Region and its sub-regions and local markets. They will also ensure a continued focus on People & Cultural, inspiring, motivating and promoting the best of WSP to our clients and communities to ensure strong employee engagement and morale.

What you can expect to do here:

Operational Excellence

  • Responsible for the net revenue and sales within the Region, including organic growth, revenue generation, DSO, client satisfaction, employee engagement and turnover

  • Leading cross-sector Regional Management Teams

  • Responsible for government relations and industry presence in the Region (which associations to be part of, which conferences to attend/sponsor)

  • With support from the recruitment team, be responsible for WSP’s strategy and visibility with Universities and Colleges in the Region

  • Develops regional incremental growth, forecast and business development strategies in collaboration with Sector Leaders. Critical focus will be helping to establish the existing baseline across each regional market specifically along all critical KPIs including but not limited to:

  • Current average revenue growth (split between major projects and traditional projects)

  • Reginal Backlog Growth

  • Under-penetrated markets or Sub-Regions

  • Opportunities for expansion or add-on work/backlog development opportunities from existing clients

  • New target clients and/or sub-markets

  • Risk and opportunity sectors/projects that could put increasing organic growth at risk

  • Risk and Opportunity factors to organic growth (staffing, federal, provincial, municipal government funding, etc)

  • Defines the real estate strategy to follow the business strategy

  • Lead Regional M&A, liaising with the Sectors involved

People & Culture

  • Attracts the best industry talent by fostering a work environment that is collaborative, values inclusion and diversity and invites broad, creative thinking – crafting a more attractive place to work, grow and thrive

  • Builds culture and connections across the Region to enable knowledge sharing, relationship building across all Sectors and Corporate Services

  • Supports programs such as Health & Safety, Inclusion & Diversity, Sustainability and Ethics & Compliance

  • Collaboration with Sector Leaders and Canadian Executive Team (CET) members will be critical to the overall success of this role

  • Supports the continued development of an inclusive and diverse workplace

  • Support and be an ambassador for WSPs Employee Resource Groups across the Region

  • Responsible for the oversight, structure and accountability for Sub-Regional leaders as well as Office Leaders to create local engagement, part of a WSP culture that encompasses the province, country and global WSP presence, anchored on WSP’s guiding principles

Clients:

  • Sets clients at the center of everything we do, helping them be “Future Ready” and innovative through sustainable planning and design, and prepared for emerging market disrupters

  • Understands the Regional concerns, challenges, as well as the opportunities for growth and investments

  • Brings an expanded view and integrated response to complex challenges by leveraging our full suite of offerings across all sectors maximizing cross-selling opportunities

  • Utilizes our extended reach across Regions and the globe to foster new and innovative solutions

  • Deploys our unique expertise and perspective to create new value for clients and provides civic and industry leadership within the Region

  • As part of the client program, ensures the Regional Clients are carefully managed

  • Leads the Local Market Engagement (LME) teams, through Sub-Regional leadership

  • Manages client coordination and cross-selling efforts across all Sectors in coordination with other Regions and Sectors

Expertise

  • Leverages our broad technical experience to enhance current and new service offerings

  • Works very closely with the Sectors to ensure strategic technical expertise is available

  • Fosters the development of new and emerging innovations to remain the trusted thought leaders in our industry

  • Advances the strategic direction of the Region and positions the Region for sustained and continued growth consistent within the context of the strategic plan

  • Encourages, supports and promotes the technical and professional development of all staff within WSP

  • Strong desire to learn and represent all Sectors within the Region

Key Performance Indicators include : Net Revenue, Organic Growth, DSO, Turnover, Employee Engagement, Hard/Soft Backlog, Inclusion & Diversity and Guiding Principles.

Direct reports: Sub-Regional Leaders ; Office Leaders direct reports to Sub-Regional Leaders

Functional support team includes : Regional People & Culture, Regional Finance, , Regional Communications and Marketing, Regional Health& Safety and Regional Real Estate & Facilities Management

What you’ll bring to WSP:

  • Strong knowledge and previous experience with business operations and P&L experience
