About the Role:

The Confluent marketing team is the growth engine building awareness and generating demand for the leading streaming platform based on Apache Kafka. We are category breakers, market definers and powerful technical persuaders helping every enterprise realize the power of streaming data. Confluent is looking for a full stack web developer who is passionate about building a world-class online experience that fosters sophisticated consumer engagement. We are a fast-moving, innovative team, and are looking for a developer to help us grow.

What You Will Do:

  • Collaborate with partner teams to deliver world class end-to-end experiences

  • Implement high-performing and reusable UI components

  • Build responsive web experiences that look great across multiple devices and browsers

  • Create database schemas

  • Contribute to a working backend or create one yourself

  • Utilize your knowledge on testing, security, and the scalability of building a web backend.

  • Build and maintain backend software services that integrates with internally owned systems and 3rd party softwares

  • Collaborate with peers to design, write and document, deploy, and maintain our front end codebase

  • Identify and resolve performance and scalability issues

  • Participate in design reviews

  • Code review to make sure code quality is production ready

  • Have fun building high quality code and working with a collaborative team

What You Will Bring:

  • 5+ years experience in a production environment - creating scalable and responsive websites/applications using Javascript, React and CSS

  • Strong x-team communication skills

  • An ownership mentality in all the things you build and are comfortable with identifying opportunities and driving forward-looking technical roadmaps

  • Strong proficiency in React

  • Strong proficiency with HTML, CSS, JavaScript

  • Knowledge of at least one background language

  • Strong knowledge of backend design patterns

  • Strong understanding of database design

  • Ability to think of edge cases and communicate with the team clearly

  • Comfortable with reviewing PR’s and giving constructive feedback

  • Critical-thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving skills

  • Taking stakeholder/design request and being able to implement them from end to end (from stakeholder discussions, technical design one pagers, implementation)

  • Adept at writing current, clean, compliant, search-engine friendly HTML and CSS.

  • Writing clean, scalable, component style code.

  • Comfortable working independently in a high-growth, fast-paced startup

What Gives You an Edge:

  • Experience with Gatsby

  • Building backend systems

  • Database design

  • Experience with Graphql

  • Experience with CSS preprocessors

  • Has built out a CI/CD pipeline before or knowledge of how to update a current CI/CD

  • Knowledge and implementation of testing libraries (jest, cypress, mocha, jasmin, puppeteer)

  • Knowledge of how to optimize web applications.

  • Experience in A/B testing, tracking, and tools like Google Optimize, Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Segment, Optimizely, etc.

  • Knowledge in Figma, and Zeplin

This position has an annual estimated salary of $126,540 - $148,680, an annual bonus, and a competitive equity package.
