City Of Minneapolis-Human Resources Technology Services Coordinator in Minneapolis, Minnesota

Position Description The Minneapolis Convention Center (MCC) is a relationship building. We host more than 300 events annually and contribute to a vibrant downtown community by providing economic impact through visitor spending at hotels, restaurants, arts & attractions, and retail establishments. Act as Minneapolis Convention Center (MCC) technology liaison with MCC partners in marketing, sales, booking, and event coordination. Provide oversight in the areas of audio/visual, computer services, technical staff time, video production and video signage to contracted and potential clients in order to positively impact ancillary revenues. This position is only open to current Minneapolis Convention Center employees Working Conditions This is primarily an on-site position. Indoor setting with Considerable walking and standing Salary Expectation Anticipated starting salary range: $72,540-99,817/annually, depending on qualifications. The City of Minneapolis does not sponsor applicants for work visas. Job Duties and Responsibilities Responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating and monitoring technologically complex events and activities with emphasis on service to ensure that the contractual requirements of the Convention Center and the Convention Center clients are met. Communicate closely with the Meet Minneapolis Sales Staff to understand the status of each individual event. Work closely with Technology Services staff and prepare production plans, drawings, and estimates. Provide planning input, direction and oversight in the areas of audio/visual services, corporate concert production, lighting, wi-fi computer connectivity, video monitor advertising and other sponsorship opportunities to clients under contract as well as potential clients. Review technology services needs of clients and events, and make initial client contacts and introduce services to clients that are in the proposal stage, discussing the event requirements as related to audio/video equipment, sound and lighting packages, video production opportunities, video conferencing, video signage, and wi-fl, etc. Responsible for discussing, quoting, and coordinating in-house Technology Services at the MCC, including equipment, sponsorships, and technical support staff Conduct event planning tours to orient new customers or prospective clients to demonstrate building capabilities and provide planning information for event and show managers before or during site inspections led by Meet Minneapolis and provide technical answers and assistance as needed during site inspections. Prepare or receive, review, approve and return to client floor plans of MCC events to ensure compliance with current safety policies and codes and regulations. Provide regular updates to technology services staff, Event Coordination, and other internal staff as details become definite. Transition production coordination over to Event Coordination staff for routine straight forward requirements. Maintain records in the Event Business Management System, including generating and updating work orders. Source equipment rental when required to fulfill a request. Review post event activity to document key information and ensure proper invoicing. Selection Process The selection process will consist of one or more of the following steps: a rating of relevant education and experience and/or an oral examination (100%). Background Check The City has determined that a criminal background check and/or qualifications check may be necessary for certain positions with this job title. Required Qualifications Minimum Education Bachelors Degree in Hospitality Management, Business, or related field or Equivalent Minimum Experience Five years of experience in planning and coordinating technical production support for large-scale corporate and entertainment productions, including technical A/V meeting support. Licenses/Certifications None required. Equivalency An equivalent combination of education and experience closely related to the duties of the position MAY be considered. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Demonstrated knowledge of conferences and meeting requirements. Knowledge of the principles of public facility management and facility systems. Knowledge of applicable life and safety codes as they apply to events. Demonstrated computer skills and the ability to read and work with AutoCad (Computer-Aided Design) Demonstrated knowledge of modern digital and analog concert sound (speaker types, microphone types, etc., lighting (including moving lights), and video technologies to help clients determine how to meet production needs at an efficient cost point. Demonstrated knowledge of conferences and meeting requirements. Good human relations skills and the ability to comfortably connect with new clients and develop trusting partnerships. Ability to decisively manage conflict and coordinate stakeholders to reach a common goal. Ability to be creative and develop workable solutions when a process is not typical. Strong organizational skills and the ability to efficiently team with multiple departments, individuals and outside providers. Strong written communications skills.
