The Department of Psychiatry has identified neurodevelopment, neuroplasticity and neuromodulation as critical areas in which to promote research that will bring major advances to current knowledge about the origins and early phases of mental health disorders. The Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry seeks to create new knowledge about the causes and mechanisms of mental health problems in children and adolescents, and to discover new ways to both identify these problems earlier and intervene more effectively. Assistant Professor positions will be on the Tenure Track; candidates applying at this level are expected to have relevant training and research accomplishments consistent with developing an independent and nationally-recognized research program. Associate Professor and Professor positions will be Tenure Track eligible or Tenure eligible; these appointments require demonstrated independence and research productivity, including a strong track record of major external funding and peer-reviewed publications. Key university resources to support research in child and adolescent psychiatry include the Center for Magnetic Resonance Research (CMRR), a world-class center with state-of-the-art capabilities for high-field, high-resolution imaging; strong collaborative relationships with faculty in world-renowned research departments and centers such as the Institute of Child Development; the Departments of Psychology, Neuroscience, and Computer Sciences and Engineering; the Center for Neurobehavioral Development; the Earl E. Bakken Medical Devices Center; the Institute for Engineering in Medicine; and the Institute for Translational Research in Children's Mental Health. Application instructions In addition to the online application, please submit a cover letter, CV and the contact information for three professional references to: Sophia Vinogradov, MD Chair, Department of Psychiatry West Building 2450 Riverside Avenue Minneapolis, MN 55454 Qualifications Qualifications Qualified candidates will have either an MD or DO degree, have completed specialty training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, and have demonstrated a track record of successful research programs in the area of children and adolescent psychiatry appropriate to their career stage, including, but not limited to: Examination of normal and abnormal developmental trajectories in children and adolescents to characterize neurodevelopmental underpinnings of psychiatric illness; Developing strategies for early identification, intervention and prevention; Application of an experimental therapeutics approach to develop novel interventions targeting neurobiology in children and adolescents with psychiatric disorders with the goal of restoring healthy developmental trajectories; Application of neuromodulation tools (e.g. brain stimulation, cognitive training, etc.) to advance understanding of neurodevelopment and neuroplasticity processes in children and adolescents with and without psychiatric disease.
