This position is crucial in ensuring financial accuracy, compliance, and effective resource allocation for 10-15 faculty members. Job Duties: Non-Sponsored Account Management (20%) Collaborate with faculty to manage and monitor departmental budgets. Generate reports and forecasts to inform strategic planning decisions. Assist faculty in short- and long-term financial planning for their non-sponsored activities. Sponsored Research Grant Management (30%) Partner with faculty principal investigators to manage awarded research grants. Prepare reports and forecasts related to sponsored research activities. Process retroactive payroll adjustments and journal entries for sponsored research grants. Ensure compliance with sponsor or donor restrictions for awarded grants. Financial Compliance (25%) Review and approve financial transactions to ensure compliance with university, college, and departmental policies, as well as state and federal regulations. Ensure transactions like purchase requisitions, journal entries, vouchers, and expense reports comply with relevant guidelines. Grant Budget Preparation (15%) Collaborate with faculty on developing budgets for sponsored research grant proposals. Advise faculty on budget requirements for grant proposals. Assist faculty in planning and managing budgets for non-sponsored research and service activities. Work with faculty to enter proposal into MN-GEMS Departmental Financial Support (10%) Assist with managing departmental financial processes, including foundation and endowment funds. Process or approve transactions related to departmental financial activities. Support faculty, staff, and students with financial aspects of CEMS projects and events. Support Internal and External Service Organizations. Qualifications Qualifications: Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Minimum of two years of professional experience in accounting, finance, or a relevant field within higher education (preferred). A combination of education and experience (up to six years) may be considered to meet the minimum qualifications. Essential Skills: Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices. Proficiency in financial analysis and reporting. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal). Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.). Experience with financial management software (e.g., PeopleSoft, Oracle Financials) is a plus.
