Honeywell Avionics Assembler Group Leader - 3rd shift in Minneapolis, Minnesota

Shift: 3rd (10pm-6am) + $1.35/hr shift differential

Training: 1st shift for 3-4 months

Produce high quality products and services for our customers. You will assemble and inspect product to ensure the highest quality product is provided to our customers. You will be responsible for your work area to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the area. You will set up and monitor the production of product in your area and participate in the continuous improvement process at the site to address safety, production and quality improvements.

Key Responsibilities

WORK DIRECTION

A. Assign/shift employees as needed to ensure all jobs have adequate coverage and work schedules are met. B. Monitor employee performance to ensure jobs are being done per specifications. C. Motivate/reinforce good employee work habits and where appropriate correct poor work habits.

COMMUNICATION

Meet with supervisor to plan work schedules and discuss potential problems with meeting schedules. B. Notify supervisor of department problems ie. quality, employee performance etc... C. Communicate as necessary with off shift personnel, and Group Leaders in different departments.

TRAINING

A. Explain step-by-step process of a new job to workers and demonstrate how job is to be performed. B. Train employees how to read/understand factory layouts. C. Emphasize quality of work to employees during training process and monitor work and employees' attitude toward quality carefully during training period. D. Orient employees on department products. E. Teach proper labor reporting.

SCHEDULING

A. Schedule work based on priority, materials, parts and supplies availability and work schedule requirements. B. Establish priorities for which jobs are to be done first. C. Maintain schedule/records as necessary. D. Monitor work schedules to make efficient set-ups and plan future set-ups.

LABOR TICKET ACTIVITY

A. Monitor labor tickets of employees and correct identified errors. B. Ensure that tally sheets/labor tickets are turned in daily from each worker.

HOS

Embrace and engage in the Honeywell Operating System (HOS) including activities, but not limited to Safety & Behavioral Observation Process (BOP), 5S, Continuous Improvement (Kaizen), Tiered Accountability Process, Standard Work, Rapid Problem Solving (RPS), Built In Quality (BIQ), Coaching, Total productive Maintenance (TPM) and Knowledge Sharing.

MACHINE SET-UP, CHECK AND APPROVAL

A. Oversee machine/tool/equipment set-up. B. Check to ensure that a machine/equipment/work place is set-up properly per the job requirement. C. Give operator approval to run a job subject to quality O.K. when applicable.

SAFETY

A. Explain, demonstrate and teach employees department safety regulations/policies and enforce employee compliance. B. Oversee general housekeeping of assigned work area. C. Insure for the proper labeling, recordkeeping and move orders of hazardous/explosive materials.

ENGINEERING INTERFACE

A. Work with Engineering to resolve problems related to parts, supplies, equipment and/or processes. B. Assist Engineering in the design process of new products, systems and/or construction.

PRODUCTION

A. Coordinate the required activities and ensure production schedules are met. B. Monitor individual and group performance reports. C. Complete required production reports.

INVENTORY/MATERIAL HANDLING

A. Maintain inventory levels required to meet production needs. B. Account for all materials/parts/supplies coming in and leaving group area.

MACHINE MAINTENANCE/REPAIR

A. Make necessary repairs or adjustments on machines/equipment within the scope of the job and call appropriate discipline

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

A. Works in Air Conditioned area. B. No Smoking, Drinking or Eating in area. C. Safety Glasses with Side Shields may be required. D. May be required to pass eye exam. E. Must pass solder certification. F. Must maintain good housekeeping practices. G. Handles light to average weight materials.
