MCW: SARGEANT HEALTH CENTER Research Technologist II in MILWAUKEE, Wisconsin

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Position Description: Primary Functions Reprogram human somatic cell lines into induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs). Monitor inventory and maintain supply of inventory. Maintain iPSCs in culture. Differentiate iPSCs into cardiomyocytes (CMs), neurons, beta islet cells and other cell types. Provide quality control of generated iPSCs and differentiated iPSCs. Bank and prepare iPSCs and differentiated iPSCs. Educate other technicians in cell culture techniques. Desirable skills include flow cytometry, qRT-PCR, confocal microscopy, primary cell isolation, antibody validation, transfection, and protein over-expression and CRISPR technologies. Handling various human somatic cells (e.g., fibroblasts, peripheral blood mononuclear cells, urine) and tissues (e.g., skin biopsy and heart tissue). Strong organizational skills, passion for methodological development, and understanding of basic experimental design are required for this position. Participate in meetings with Cardiovascular Center leadership, principal investigator and research staff and evaluate/interpret the validity of data as needed. Oversee daily lab operation in the absence of the supervisor or Principal Investigator. Assist in development and implementation of research protocols. Record and compile accurate records and communicate summaries of experimental results. Help evaluate, interpret, and assess experimental data and quality control of assays. Operate, calibrate and perform routine maintenance on specialized equipment used in research. Other duties and projects as assigned.
