Join our diverse team and support your community while protecting our environment. MMSD is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Project Manager in the Technical Services Division. Reporting to the Plants Program Manager, you will provide project management, engineering evaluations, engineering design, and plan and specification preparation services for assigned MMSD capital studies, planning, research, and pilots in a manner that ensures the completion of projects on schedule and within budget. These projects involve the development of sustainable solutions to water reclamation facility planning, process modeling, and energy planning. Essential Duties and Responsibilities *Provide project management for assigned projects, including managing schedule, budget, commitments (contracts), and project status. *Manage consultants to ensure conformance with MMSD policies, procedures, standards, and design criteria. *Schedule and facilitate multiple project activities, including project progress meetings and workshops. Coordinate and schedule work with various MMSD departments. *Provide quality assurance reviews on active projects and deliverables to limit contract modifications. *Ensure the completion of all required documentation, record documents, etc., for assigned projects. *Propose new projects and prepare schedule and budget estimates upon which MMSD\'s annual and long-range capital budget is based. *Prepare technical memorandums, reports, and presentations for water reclamation facility projects. *Conduct data analysis and engineering computations related to projects. Support the asset management group with the completion of risk assessments and business case evaluations as assigned. *Support the research team with document reviews and pilots as assigned. *Perform inter-agency coordination on assigned projects, which may include municipalities, utility groups, regulatory agencies, and community groups. *Review engineering analyses of MMSD\'s facilities for assigned projects. Assist the legal, contract compliance, and communication departments with technical expertise as needed. *Perform engineering analysis and calculations related to large projects, including equipment capacities, conveyance capacities, operation and maintenance costs, energy costs. and other process variables. *Follow, comply with, and enforce safety and work rules and regulations while on project sites. *Complete special projects as assigned. Supplemental Information Work environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee works in an office environment and is exposed to outside weather conditions. While outside, or at the treatment plant, employee may be exposed to extreme temperatures, wet and/or humid conditions, toxic or caustic chemicals, noise, fumes, and risk of electrical shock. Travel is required as necessary to reach job sites within MMSD\'s service area. Requires the use of safety glasses, hard hat, steel-toe shoes, hearing protection, coveralls, gloves, rain gear, safety vest, and self-contained breathing apparatus as dictated by the location of work being performed. ***** OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: *Bachelor\'s degree in civil/environmental/chemical engineering or a related engineering discipline. *Two to three years of job-related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. *Planning, engineering, design, or construction management experience. *Wastewater, sewer, or watercourse related exper ence. *Strong project management skills. *High degree of interpersonal and problem-solving skills with a demonstrated ability to resolve conflict. *Ability to apply engineering principles and practices to the solution of engineering problems. *Ability to apply written and oral communication skills to the completion of job duties. *Ability to read, interpret, and work with blueprints, specifications, and plans. *Ability to establish and maintain effective public and working relations. *Microsoft Office experience required. *Computer software proficiency. *Familiarity with the wastewater treatment process and experience using treatment process modeling is desirable. *Experience in data analytics and reporting is desirable. *Experience in SUMO Dynamita, Hach WIMS, Power BI, ArcGIS Insights, Python, SCADA, or project management scheduling software is desirable. *Ability to handle substantial datasets and conduct statistical analysis within an engineering context is desirable. *Valid driver\'s license and a good driving record at time of application and throughout employment. ***** APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS: Apply Online: https://www.governmentjobs.com/careers/mmsd/jobs/4561883/project-manager
