Position Title: School Nutrition Program Associate

Reports to:  Dean of Operations, Director of Nutrition Program

Employment Classification: 10-month hourly employee, Part-time, 3-6 hours/day

Job Overview

The SNP Associate will cook, serve and clean at their assigned school and satellite schools as assigned.  The SNP Associate will have responsibility for implementation of HACCP, USDA and DPI standards to maintain quality control and efficient operation of the National School Breakfast and Lunch Program. 

Responsibilities and Duties

Planning and Meal Preparation:

  • Assist SNP Manager with ordering of food and supplies as needed.

  • Assist with receiving and putting away all food and supply orders.

  • Prepares food in compliance with approved food preparation and service procedures, including the use of standardized recipes, portion control, presentation and quality of food.

  • Participates in taste testings and evaluation of new products, recipes and methods of preparation as requested.

  • Follows production record for portion control. 

  • Cooks according to standardized recipes provided.

  • Assist students with healthy choices at mealtimes.

  • Provide and obtain feedback from students, parents, and satellite sites regarding food quality and menu choices.

  • Communicates with students and Seton staff in a professional, respectful manner.

Record Keeping:

  • Completes all HACCP logs daily as required for food safety.

  • Completes production records daily as needed.

  • Ability to learn and record POS counts as needed .

Food Safety:

  • Demonstrates established standards, methods, and procedures for food safety at assigned school, in accordance with USDA, HACCP and State regulations, Health Department standards and SNP standards.

  • Performs cleaning according to schedule for production and eating areas .

  • Participates in maintaining clean, well-organized storage areas, including freezers, refrigerators and dry storage areas.

  • Completes all annual training requirements as required.

     

Physical Requirements:

  • Carry, move and stock food, supplies and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs, storing at heights for 6” to 60” from the floor.

  • Must be able to tolerate temperatures ranging from -10 F to 40 F for periods of time up to one-half hour.

  • Must be able to tolerate temperatures of 80 F for the duration of workday.

  • Must have the stamina necessary for the efficient performance of duties.

  • Must be able to stand on feet for duration of workday.

  • Must be free from communicable diseases.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Deep belief in all children and the mission of Seton Catholic Schools

  • High School Diploma or Equivalency or equivalent experience required

  • One to three years experience associated with a food service program in the educational field or in other types of quantity food production operations desired.

  • Food Manager Certified desired

  • Prefer knowledge of quantity food service, food preparation methods and operation of food service equipment

  • Prefer knowledge of sanitation procedures and conditions for food preparation, food safety, service and storage. 

  • Ability to establish and maintain satisfactory working relationships with other employees suppliers, school staff, students and the public

  • Ability to accept and interpret direction given from supervisors including school administration.

  • Able to collaborate and work in a team atmosphere.

  • Ability to assist at other Seton Schools as required

  • Adheres to uniform requirements at all times. 

  • Personal appearance adheres to appropriate grooming and hygiene.

  • Adheres to Seton policies and procedures.

  • Perform other duties as assigned
