JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Center for Survey Research at Penn State Harrisburg (CSR) is seeking an early to mid-career quantitative/survey researcher to join its team. CSR is a research unit within the Institute of State and Regional Affairs (ISRA). ISRA unites Penn State faculty and professional staff to carry out research and data services in the areas of public policy, community planning, information management, and evaluation. ISRA conducts approximately $3-$4 million in annual sponsored research from state, federal, philanthropic, and private funders.

The hybrid position is based at Penn State Harrisburg. CSR/ISRA is supportive of Penn State’s Flexible Work Arrangements: https://hr.psu.edu/current-employee/flexible-work-arrangements.

This is a term staff appointment funded for one year from the start date with an excellent possibility of refunding.

Job Description:

  • Oversee and manage all tasks for the Lion Poll omnibus web survey (https://csr.hbg.psu.edu/what-we-do/lion-poll),

  • Collaborate with a team of faculty, students, research professionals, and external partners,

  • Identify the information needs and analytic solutions for project partners,

  • Develop survey questions, protocols, recruiting strategies/materials, and project tracking tools,

  • Design, construct, deploy, and manage mail and web surveys,

  • Oversee quality control and data quality throughout research projects,

  • Advise research partners and principal investigators on research methodologies such as data collection techniques, sampling procedures, and data analysis,

  • Prepare data analysis plans,

  • Perform descriptive, inferential, and exploratory statistical analyses using techniques including linear regression, logistic regression, ANOVA, t-tests, correlations, and Chi-square tests with SPSS or R,

  • Create data visualizations, including infographics and dashboards, and

  • Prepare interim and final reports, research briefs, abstracts, manuscripts, and other data products for research projects, both independently and collaboratively.

  • Strong interpersonal skills in a dynamic work environment,

  • Ability to work on multiple concurrent tasks and research projects,

  • Efficient time management, priority setting, and organizational skills, and

  • A commitment to quality and customer service.

Technical Skills:

  • Experience with Qualtrics web survey software, a statistical package (ex. SPSS, R, etc.), and Microsoft Excel is required. Tableau experience is preferred. Experience with developing survey questions is also preferred.

Position Level and Requirements:

  • This position will be filled as an Advanced Professional. The typical requirements for an Advanced Professional include a bachelor’s degree or higher with 3+ years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$61,800.00 - $89,600.00
