JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Penn State Harrisburg, a comprehensive College of Penn State University, is excited to welcome applications and nominations for the position of Coordinator of Student Diversity, Equity Inclusion & Belonging for Student Affairs. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Student Engagement, the Coordinator of Student Diversity, Equity Inclusion & Belonging is a leadership position responsible for advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.

This position develops, implements, and monitors programs, and events that assist in the engagement, academic success, and retention of minoritized students, and offers guidance and support to these populations. This position will support retention initiatives for underrepresented, underserved, and 1st generation student populations. This Student Engagement coordinator will embrace the critical role of diversity, equity, and inclusion by delivering co-curricular experiences, building a positive campus community, and supporting student success.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership, development, and support for student programming and activities that enhance diversity, equity, inclusion & belonging across campus.

  • Supervision and leadership of PT staff and student workers.

  • Partner with the Assistant Dean for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and appropriate administrative units within the college and across the university to develop and advance DEIB initiatives.

  • Oversee the Oliver LaGrone Cultural Center and supervise student employees serving that center.

  • Lead the Multicultural Academic Enhancement Program and the Students of Color Graduation Celebration.

  • Facilitate and provide training to students and the campus community on applicable diversity, social justice, and cultural competency programs.

  • Participate in College and University-wide committees and task forces.

Typical Education and Experience:

  • 2+ years related experience

  • Master’s Degree or higher

  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Experience in diversity, equity and inclusion work

  • Record of excellence and experience in building, delivering, and advancing institutional DEI programs and activities

  • Experience in advising and counseling student and student organizations

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Skill in working collaboratively with others and in developing professional networks

  • Experience in communicating with various stakeholders and presenting to large groups in various forums

  • Ability to support the college’s broad range of activities and initiatives

The pay range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$51,000.00 - $74,000.00
