Job Title: Continuous Improvement Specialist / Engineer

Job Description

Join our dynamic team as a Continuous Improvement Specialist/Engineer, focusing on enhancing operational efficiency across various departments. This role primarily involves waste reduction, scrap and time reduction, process and continuous improvements, value stream mapping, optimization, and the establishment of SOPs and work instructions. The position entails conducting thorough root cause analyses to pinpoint necessary changes and improvements, overseeing process improvement projects, and implementing new processes. You will be collaborating closely with process engineers, supervisors, operators, assemblers, production, quality teams, and vendors, especially during new product launches. Emphasize on Lean, Kaizen, and Six Sigma events, particularly in our manual assembly facility. Expect to spend 70-80% of your time on the floor, solving problems, investigating issues, and implementing processes, with the remainder dedicated to office tasks such as flow, value stream mapping, plant layout designs, and project planning.

Hard Skills

• Associates Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology (Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Industrial Engineering Technology, Data Science, or Supply Chain)

• Experience in running, facilitating, training, and coordinating Kaizen events for cross-functional teams

• 3+ years of relevant experience

• Working knowledge of plant layout design and data management software (Power BI & SAP preferred)

Soft Skills

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Effective communication and teamwork capabilities

• Leadership in managing projects and improvements

• Ability to work effectively both on the floor and in an office environment

Work Site

This is a fully on-site position in Michigan City, Indiana.

Work Environment

The role includes being a Continuous Improvements project leader over Plant 1, focused primarily on assembly operations. You will be part of a growing Continuous Improvement team, which currently comprises three members and is looking to expand further.
