AutoZone, Inc. Sr. Product Manager, Customer Data Operations in Memphis, Tennessee

The Sr. Product Manager will define, validate, and communicate the vision for customer data management, activation, and personalization supporting customer journeys and interactions across retail and online channels. The ideal candidate is responsible for developing and bringing new customer data products to market that will power always-on and personalized experiences that create deeper levels of engagement, data collection, and incremental revenue. This role is vital to supporting growth initiatives at AutoZone by identifying future needs and developing a viable product strategy and plan to launch. 

The ideal candidate will lead a team involved in activities focused on, but not limited to, customer data management, customer data activation, personalization, data regulation compliance, loyalty program enhancement, and more. The ideal candidate will have experience building enterprise solutions and highly utilized products that serve cross-functional needs and have a firm understanding of the agile and user-centered design values, principles, and practices. This individual should be organized, results-oriented, and highly collaborative and have a strong background in data, technology, and a passion for enabling customer-centric experiences across retail and digital channels.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Define, validate, and communicate a vision for customer data management, data activation, and personalization at the enterprise level

  • Lead the creation and execution of the customer data-management roadmap that is directly tied to business goals

  • Ensure every customer interaction (in-person or digital) is accurately informed by knowing who the customer is, how they’ve previously interacted with AutoZone, what they’ve purchased, and what we should recommend next

  • Enable a world-class customer centric data platform that delivers accurate, real-time data to develop powerful solutions that unlock new levels of interactivity, personalization, and functionality, to improve the user-experience and value of a product

  • Expertise on how to establish an ecosystem that can deliver personalization at scale across channels based on solid understanding of customer data platforms and AI decisioning and analysis products

  • Drive the project roadmap and realization of outcomes for the customer data products

  • Define successful product outcomes with clearly measurable objectives and key result

  • Utilize market and customer data combined with business needs to ideate and prioritize product and system capabilities

  • Deliver robust customer data products that have a direct impact on the business by providing internal teams and customers with a single-source-of-truth that enable real-time personalization in any channel

  • Become an expert on the AutoZone data assets and technology infrastructure, seeking a deep understanding of our customers and their problems, working towards elegant solutions to those problems

  • Manage cross-functional relationships to keep stakeholders informed, receive input, and influence their thinking

  • Ability to collaborate with engineering and cross-functional teams of data producers and data consumers to improve data management practices and personalization capabilities, as needed

  • Immerse yourself in the AutoZone customer experience to ensure that our infrastructure and offerings improve that experience

  • Manage the customer data products’ lifecycle and new features/enhancements that support the vision and roadmap created

  • Partner with legal and InfoSec to stay up to date on privacy laws to ensure compliance related to data management and processes

  • Manage competing requests from multiple groups while maintaining a strong attention to detail

    SUPERVISORY EXPERIENCE

  • This role will oversee four individuals

    EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s in Marketing, Database Management, MIS, Engineering or Quantitative Disciplines (e.g., Statistics, Computer Science, Business Analytics); advanced degree a plus

  • 8+ years of experience as a technical product manager, program manager or background in CRM database management or product management, retail experience preferred

  • Expertise developing/leading an enterprise product from the infrastructure layer up and are very comfortable with autonomy in prioritization and driving meaningful business outcomes

  • Experience w ith customer data systems, data platforms or data infrastructure

  • Experience leading highly complex initiative(s) that works across multiple business units

  • Self-starter with s trong communication skills a nd the ability to tell a story for the problems you're solving and the vision you want to realize, combined with c oncise details of how to get it done

  • Excellent team- and relationship-building abilities, with both internal and external parties (engineers, data scientists, business partners, legal, privacy, security, etc.)

  • Solid knowledge of product development methodologies, experience working with technology teams, and have a data-driven and collaborative mindset

  • Bring a general manager mindset, analytical problem-solving skills, ability to simplify complex problems, prioritize based on trade-offs and drive decisions and actions

  • A bility to translate technical details, customer problems, and business impact of the team’s work, and willingness to dive in with engineering, security, or the customer as needed to help find solutions

  • Analytical, metrics-driven thinker who is deeply empathetic and leads with a customer-centered approach

  • Deep knowledge of agile and user-centered design values, principles, and practices, as well as, database marketing concepts, experience with CRM technology, and AI products

  • Excellent time and project management skills with the ability to balance multiple priorities with rigorous attention to details and ability to adapt to change

  • Must have experience working in an environment with legacy systems with the ability to transcend the constraints by finding economical solutions which deliver products able to support long-term growth

  • Strong leadership skills, including the ability to influence cross-functional teams via diplomacy and tact
