Accounting Operations Manager

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting
  • 10 years of progressive experience in related accounting roles, with 3 years in a leadership capacity.
  • Understanding of accounting principles and internal controls.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret complex financial data.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills to interact with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and integrity in financial reporting.

Preferred Skills

  • CPA or equivalent certification is a plus
  • Previous experience with Oracle's Netsuite accounting software is a plus.

Job Summary

The Accounting Operations Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the company's accounting operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency for all financial transactions. This position will play a critical role in driving financial strategy, managing financial risk, and supporting decision-making processes across the organization. The holder of the position will report directly to the company's Controller and will lead a team of five.

Role and Responsibilities

To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and should demonstrate the following competencies to consistently perform the essential functions of this position. All employees are expected to adhere to and be knowledgeable of Orion180 operations standards, established security/safety rules and requirements for attendance. The requirements listed below are representative of the fundamental knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:

  • Oversee the processing of accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Review and approve vendor invoices, employee expense reports, and customer invoices. Monitor billing and collections activities to optimize cash flow.
  • Oversee the booking of insurance revenue, and monthly reconciliations of bank accounts, credit cards, and other balance sheet accounts. Review journal entries as needed to maintain accurate financial records.
  • Develop and implement internal control procedures to mitigate financial risks and ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in the coordination of audits and reviews by internal and external auditors.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation to streamline accounting processes and enhance efficiency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement process enhancements and system upgrades.
  • Provide training and support to accounting staff to ensure understanding and compliance with new procedures.
  • Stay informed about changes in accounting standards and regulations and ensure adherence to applicable requirements.

Physical Demands

While performing general office duties for this position, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand and/or walk around (including the use of stairs). Other demands include to openly communicate with others by talking, listening, and reading.

Work Environment

The office environment is quiet and, in a temperature, controlled setting with random adjustments in noise or temperature due to conversations, unscheduled maintenance repairs to the building or its interior offices, or unpredictable situations due to weather or other acts beyond company control. An employee must work their regularly assigned work schedule for their duties and/or job responsibilities and in times of need, work an extended schedule depending on the company/department needs, project requirements, or customer demands.
