ManTech Network Installation Technician - Telephony in McLean, Virginia
Currently, ManTech is seeking a motivated, career and customer-oriented Network Installation Technicon to serve on a team of IT support professionals responsible for equipment installation, specifically VoIP Telephone Installation. In this role, you will focus on providing productive and collaborative computer workspace (new or renovated) to support dynamic mission requirements.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Supporting all facets of network installations, which includes the physical placement of CAT5 and fiber optic cable, wall jacks, racks, VoIP Telephones, and communications equipment as required.
Installing, pulling and terminating cable, determining and implementing required pin outs, cards power supplies, patch panels, etc., testing and documenting installations, dressing and labeling cables, racks, patch panels, etc.
Supporting projects that include cabling and implementation in accordance with design documents and build-to packages.
Communicates complex concepts.
Local travel may be required between customer buildings or temporary assignment to an alternate location in support of special projects.
Flexibility to support customer mission; may have opportunity/need to work extended hours or weekends during critical peaks and be available to meet last minute requests.
Works independently, with guidance in only the most complex situations.
Maintaining and updating records and tracking databases.
Supporting activities to improve the overall excellence of the team by supporting the creation of Knowledge Articles, Work Instructions, SOPs, etc.
Using best practices and knowledge of internal or external business issues to improve products or services.
Providing input on team’s success, accomplishments, roadblocks, etc.
Providing weekly status reports, and other reports as required.
Attending customer meetings.
Meeting contractual performance criteria.
Hours of coverage:
Individual shift may vary, but you will be a member of a team comprised of a variety of skills that provide coverage from 6:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Basic Qualifications:
Strong communication skills due to variety of groups to be working with, such as co-workers, management, and customers; must be able to exchange accurate information.
Resolving technical problems and answering queries by that involve computer hardware, network, and telecommunications systems.
Must have VoIP Telephone Installation experience.
Prior Knowledge of MDF wiring and standards, copper troubleshooting, how to read 5ESS Switch O.E. (Office Equipment), wire wrapping jumpers on MDF pines, standard telephony color codes, 110 punch downs and be able to trace out jumpers in telephone closets.
Familiar with Avaya phones and Ports, NT-1 modules/racks and how to wire them, POTS line experience (Plain Old Telephone Lines/Analyst Configurations).
Basic understandings of T1 lines and how to wire/trouble shoot them and use/read a Link Runner and how to read ports on a switch.
Self-motivated, organized, with excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
Ability to embrace diverse technical disciplines and excellent customer service skills.
Ability to adapt to quickly changing tasks and requirements and the ability to quickly learn new skills while on the job.
Attention to detail, leadership, and collaborative and independent work process.
Demonstrated problem solving and technical skills to resolve critical IT issues.
Expertise, training, and actual work experience with customer specific, systems and technologies.
Must be a self-starter, work independently, and work with a clear and defined mission.

Experience with installing endpoints including but not limited to desktop IT equipment, printers, VoIP and digital phones, network switches.
BA/BS and 4 years of experiences, or a combination of education and work experience equivalent to 8 years.
Preferred Qualifications:
VoIP Telephone Installation experience.
Related work experience in a technical help desk position and IT hardware and cabling installation.
IAT III certification.
Experience with ServiceNow ITSM & ITOM.
ITIL® v4 Foundation, or higher, certification.
NOTE : Multiple levels of seniority are available dependent on qualifications/experience.
Security Clearance Requirements:
- Current/active TS/SCI with Polygraph.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50%.
Must be able to move/traverse within and between buildings and offices.
Must be able to position self to maintain equipment and cabling, including under the desks, while moving floor tiles, and in server closets, some of which may be confined spaces.
Able to operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer.
Must be able to move Audio/Visual or Computer equipment weighing 50 pounds or more, some equipment may require team-lift or the use of carts.
Ascends/descends a ladder, 10+ feet high while pulling cables and adjusting equipment.
