Overview and Essential Functions

Overview CableCom is seeking flaggers for telecommunication construction projects for our Sacramento, California location. This person will direct the movement of vehicular and pedestrian traffic through our job sites using signs as well as hand and flag signals.What you’ll do…

  • Assist in loading and unloading equipment and supplies needed for daily work assignments, setting-up worksite traffic and safety controls, and properly securing the work area.

  • Following traffic control plans and maintaining the control of traffic safety within the work zone according to Caltrans requirements.

  • Occasionally hand dig with shovels, picks, and digging bars to expose located utilities, access underground vaults and pedestals, and complete trenches.

  • Occasionally operate jackhammers, air knives, pneumatic boring equipment (compressors & missiles) and powered augers.

  • Occasionally assist with placement of conduit and/or cables in trenches, splice conduit sections (install couplers) as directed, place anchors, pedestals, vaults, etc. to complete construction tasks.

  • Fully restore worksite at completion of daily work; refill trenches and holes, tamp soil, replant any plants or shrubs that were disturbed during our construction, place temporary asphalt on streets where excavations have been performed.

  • When required, and if appropriately licensed and authorized, drive or operate construction equipment used on the jobsite to complete daily work assignments

  • Clean and maintain all company vehicles and equipment assigned for use.

  • Willingness to work shifts as assigned, including weekends and daily overtime when necessary.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Who we are looking for…

  • Flagger Certification.

  • Experience flagging in California.

  • Possession of a valid driver's license.

  • Ability to stand and safely manage traffic and pedestrian activity within the workzone with hand paddles and use of handheld radios during the duration of the shift.

  • Must be able to assist the crews with other construction tasks as needed.

  • Capable of working in all temperatures, climates, and weather conditions.

  • Able to perform physical tasks for the entire assigned work shift.
