We are looking for a skilled and passionate Product Technologist to join our team and help us continue our tradition of excellence.

Job Description: We are seeking a Product Technologist with a background in food science to take on this role in our Technical Services team. The ideal candidate will develop the ability to troubleshoot production issues, assist the R&D, QA, and Operations teams, and operate machinery when needed. This is an excellent role for beginner food scientists to gain experience in Product Development, Quality Assurance, and Operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Master the processes of extruded snacks and tortilla chip production, troubleshooting and resolving production issues in real-time to minimize downtime and maintain product standards.
  • Perform production trials for new product development and material qualification
  • Assist QA team in decision making regarding product quality; understand gold standards and customer expectations.
  • Make data-driven decisions to optimize production processes, improve yields, and reduce waste.
  • Assist in supervision of teammates
  • Conduct routine checks and maintenance on production equipment to prevent issues before they arise; assist with line startups
  • Document and analyze production data to identify trends, areas for improvement, and ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Train and mentor production staff on process best practices, safety protocols, and equipment operation.
  • Stand in as a qualified machine operator when necessary

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience in a food production environment, with a strong focus on processing
  • Proven experience troubleshooting production issues and implementing process improvements.
  • Hands-on experience operating and maintaining food processing machinery.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make quick, informed decisions. Knows when to seek out help from supervisors.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of food safety standards (e.g., HACCP, GMPs) and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Flexibility to work occasional off-shifts or weekends
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
