Manson Northwest Webster School District 7-12 Special Education Teacher in Manson, Iowa
MNW is a 1:1 laptop school. MNW’s belief is that technology is a “learning tool” that helps to facilitate the process. Manson Northwest Webster staff will actively engage all students in real-world, relevant, and academically challenging experiences in a safe and positive environment. MNW staff will share in the accountability for the learning of all students through professional collaboration, innovative thinking, and the use of technology and research-based strategies.
Primary Responsibilities:
Demonstrate competence in content knowledge appropriate to the teaching position
Demonstrate competence in planning and preparing for instruction
Use strategies to deliver instruction that meets the multiple learning needs of students
Use effective classroom management strategies
Fulfills all the responsibilities of the IEP: Timely and Current Progress Monitoring, Uses Progress Monitoring to Guide Instruction, Write Annual Reviews.
Work collaboratively with other educational professionals
Engage in professional growth
Work with special education students with academic, behavioral, and social/emotional needs.
Must have a solid knowledge base regarding various de-escalation strategies.
Must be knowledgeable regarding differentiating instruction plus modifications and accommodations needed to help students with disabilities to meet the Iowa Core.
Must understand laws and regulations with Special Education.
Analyze curriculum and intervention assessment data to inform instruction in the areas of reading, math, writing and behavior.
Co-Teach in academic areas as needed.
Provide individual and small group research-based instruction designed to meet individual needs of students based upon data that promotes academic, social and emotional growth.
Develop individualized educational plans based on individual student’s progress, discrepancy and need and in compliance with State and Federal Guidelines.Certification Requirements: Will accept any of the following
Set appropriate instructional goals, monitor, and evaluate student progress; be responsive to the changing needs of students and their community.
Collect and analyze IEP progress monitoring data to inform individual student instructional needs and services.
Maintain accurate and complete student records and prepare reports on students and activities as required by laws, district policies, and administrative regulations.
Establish and maintain ongoing communication with students and their parents concerning academic and behavioral progress.
Supervise students and/or special education associates as assigned and/or required to maintain a safe and orderly environment which is conducive to learning.
Supervise students in and out of classroom activities during the assigned work day.
Handles information in a confidential manner in accordance with established policies and legal requirements (FERPA, HIPAA, etc.).
