Job Title: Mechanical Project Manager

Job Description

Develop and track sales, sales leads, and promote department services. Interact with other departments to promote cooperative sales and production efforts. Oversee and direct efforts related to production and quality control. Estimate job costs and present all proposals to be submitted for review. Manage projects to meet targeted schedules and costs, ensuring rapid project close-out and turnover. Develop long-term plans for continued growth of the department. Purchase materials and utilize competent inventory analysis and inventory control. Complete billings, approve invoices, material slips, and coordinate with the payroll department in overseeing payroll/timecards for respective projects. Resolve disputes with clients and past due accounts efficiently. Report all issues which are or may be detrimental to the well-being of the company. Maintain, institute, and protect all company equipment, vehicles, and personnel policies. Track and control labor and material costs of jobs. Set up individual projects. Invoice contract and time and material projects. Work with prime and subcontractors on all phases of projects including schedules, change orders, submittals, quality control, etc. Oversee day-to-day production maximizing daily revenues. Direct customer relation efforts related to field personnel. Review purchase orders, contracts, and proposals to verify that they do not compromise company policy or exceed intended scope of work. Field customer requests, questions, and complaints to the appropriate department.

Essential Skills

  • Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, business correspondence, and memos.

  • Capability to write correspondence and present information effectively.

  • Bi-lingual communication skills (beneficial).

  • Calculate figures and amounts such as discounts and interest.

  • Apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

  • Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions.

  • Deal with problems involving several concrete variables.

  • Knowledge of Project Estimating software, Microsoft Excel, and Access.

  • Strong interpersonal skills; oral and written communication skills.

  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

  • Comfortable with heights and able to position extension ladder for roof inspections.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Construction Management or related field.

  • Three plus years of experience with mechanical HVAC projects and plumbing/piping projects preferred.

  • Equivalent combination of education and experience also considered.
