Employment Status: Full-Time

Experience Required: 2-4 years of experience dealing with the public in a related field. Directly related work experience may be substituted for the formal education requirement on a year-for-year basis.

Minimum Education Requirements: Associate degree in Office Management or related field.

Department: City Administration

Primary Work Location: City Hall.

Certification: Notary Public preferred or willing to obtain

Pay: Negotiable, Commensurate with experience. $ Salaried position

Job Summary: The City Clerk manages the highest level of municipal affairs for the City and oversees the City's official records directing the origination, maintenance, retrieval, archiving, release, distribution, safety, and overall management of documentation. Work is performed in cooperation with the City Manager.

  • Prepares meeting agendas or packets of related information for City Council, DDA, Planning Commission and Recreation Committee.
  • Attends City Council, DDA, Planning Commission and Recreation Committee meetings, records, and edits minutes, and distributes them to appropriate staff* members.
  • Post minutes to website on regular basis.
  • Interact with Mayor and City Council members in a professional, courteous, and efficient manner.
  • Prepare and respond promptly in a helpful manner to all records requests from the public and in-house requests.
  • Demonstrate good working relationships with business and community leaders and deal tactfully, skillfully, courteously, and efficiently with the public.
  • Engage in activities that promote professional growth and support professional growth and development for employees.
  • Responsible for all records management, both hard copy and electronic to ensure the proper retention, retrieval, and destruction of records according to all legal requirements.Oversees and coordinates the Municipal election process that may include preparation or distribution of ballots, appointment or training of election officers, or tabulation or certification of results.

  • Administers oaths of office to public officials
  • Shall perform all other duties in connection with the office as may be required by law, the ordinances, resolutions of the council, or by the City Manager.
