POSITION SUMMARY:

The CMA is required to provide professional clinical care. This position requires strong clinical and critical thinking skills. The CMA must be able to multi-task in a very fast paced, family practice/specialty office environment. Must be a team player with a positive attitude.

The CMA works alongside the practitioner and is instrumental in helping patients feel at ease during their visits. Will interview patients and records their medical history and physical condition. Obtains patient vital signs and ensures all vital information is obtained for the patient visit. Ensures follow up care and appointments are scheduled and provides patient education as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current MI Medical Assistant Certification required.

  • Previous clinical experience preferred.

  • Ability to deal with patients tactfully and courteously.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Providers, other employees, and patients.

  • Knowledge of current medical practices and procedures.

  • Ability to provide quality care and to assist the Provider with procedures and exams in the office setting.

  • Accuracy and dedication to providing high quality patient care.

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Takes patients vital signs, chief complaints and prepares patient for the Provider examination.

  • Provides assistance to the Provider so they can make the best possible use of their time and provide quality care.

  • Responsible for preparing each patient appropriately, seeing that exam rooms are adequately prepared, and that clinical information is made available for Provider review.

  • Assures the completion of data entry for orders and completed interventions.

  • Performs patient education/teaching at the Provider’s request.

  • Assists Provider with patient phone calls, prescription refills, etc.

  • Provides patient care including injections, various treatments, and diagnostic testing (i.e., pulse oximetry, mini mental exams) and documents accordingly.

  • Restocks exam rooms and makes lists for ordering clinical supplies.

  • Provides accurate documentation in patient EMR and reporting to other agencies (i.e. health department).

  • Addresses patient inquiries with tact and courtesy.

  • Demonstrates appropriateness in meeting objectives in age-specifics.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
