About the role

It will be initially a 6 months contract

The Corporate Relations (CR) team’s role is to protect and promote Diageo’s reputation and licence to operate, in service of becoming the most trusted and respected consumer goods company. This role will be part of the CR function in Southern Europe, reporting to the CR director, and will interact with a great variety of internal and external collaborators. For this specific role, this will include:

  • Implementing the Europe CR Strategy in the Southern Europe market.

  • Providing support in the Communications pillar, working flexibly to support Diageo businesses in SE through powerful internal and external communications activities.

  • Coordinating internal communications channels, including townhalls, video and written employee information channels. Delivering compelling contents to support our engagement objectives.

  • Becoming the CR representative in the organizing teams of key corporate events.

  • Delivering the comms & engagement programme for Southern Europe, while presenting the Southern European Exec leaders with internal and external engagement opportunities.

  • Contributing to the organization of Spain-based activities of the positive drinking and inclusivity programmes Learning for Life, Smashed, Wrong Side of the Road and DrinkIQ.

  • Contributing to the admin work to support the CR function, including budget and vendor tracking.

  • Internal – CR colleagues in other countries, the above market CR team, the MD of Southern Europe and their Exec team, members of the global brand teams

  • External – Suppliers and media.

Top Accountabilities

Functional:

  • The role will implement the internal communications strategy in Southern Europe and manage comms channels.

  • The role will need to create copy (both in English and Spanish) and video content for the internal and external channels, both on its own and managing external vendors.

  • The role will contribute to the delivery of Diageo’s positive drinking and inclusivity programs in Spain and Southern Europe

  • The role will manage the vendors of the Corporate Relations department including the financial and admin support involved (purchase orders, vendor induction, etc).

  • The role will need to develop a solid knowledge and understanding of Southern Europe including business strategy and goals, brands, innovations, policies, and practices.

  • The role has a full Southern European remit requiring interaction with a range of functions and countries - the role will collaborate and respond directly to specific project needs.

  • The role will work closely with the rest of the Southern Europe CR Team on internal and external communications for the geography, delivering against our reputation pillar and supporting the MD.

  • Deep personal accountability for great performance. Organized and reliable, while being able to respond to rapidly changing requirements.

  • Experience working across multiple countries/geographies/cultures.

About you

Ideal experiences / Qualifications / capabilities

  • 1+ years of relevant internal and/or external communications experience, either in an in-house communications department of a company, institution, or association, or in a public relations agency.

  • Outstanding writing and presentation skills in English and Spanish. Ability to deliver high-impact written materials, video footage and photos. Excellent verbal communication skills.

  • Experience in managing PR agencies and other external partners.

  • Languages: Full proficiency in English (both spoken and written) and Spanish is required. Other Southern European languages (French, Greek, Italian or Portuguese) would be a plus.

  • Exceptional ability to build and maintain genuine relationships based on mutual trust & respect.

  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with colleagues at different levels and the ability and confidence to provide support to others.

  • Managing complexity. Demonstrated track record of effectively managing an ambitious agenda of multiple projects and stakeholders.

  • Being able to excel when dealing with ambiguity, complexity and working within a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, and matrixed environment.
