PROJECT HOME INC Residential Energy Auditor in MADISON, Wisconsin

JOB REQUIREMENTS: The Residential Energy Auditor conducts energy audits for our weatherization programs within single-family homes and multi-unit structures to determine if they qualify for services. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Conduct detailed energy audits to determine energy needs, including shell calculation, insulation, ventilation, and infiltration reduction by using relevant workbooks from the state. Conduct furnace efficiency, carbon monoxide and health and safety inspection on heating units, water heaters, and air conditioning systems as required. Determine other building deficiencies, including health and safety needs, and plan corrective course(s) of action. Complete work agreements for customers and communicate the scope of work that will be completed. Generate clear and concise job/work orders for crew and contractors to ensure work is properly executed. Complete the Deferral Process for weatherization clients that must rectify various issues prior to beginning weatherization services by referring customers to other programs that can help. Assist Senior Energy Auditors with multi-family energy audits. Complete weatherization and emergency furnace inspections as needed. Complete data entry in the Wisconsin Weatherization Assistance program database. Market other Project Home programs, including Optimus, to customers who have additional housing needs, if applicable. Attend and participate in work related training and seminars as directed by supervisor. Foster relationships with peers, customers, contractors and supervisors to ensure a harmonious and professional work environment. Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor. Skills & Abilities: Basic math skills and the ability to translate measurements and diagnostic numbers to required reports and computer programs. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with a wide range of people of all ages, incomes and cultural backgrounds in order to develop effective working relationships with employees, contractors and the general public. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Excellent verbal and written communication with a high level of customer service. Willing to learn and market all Project Home weatherization and home repair programs to customers. Must be physically able to perform work including the ability to withstand extremes of heat and cold with no adverse effects on health and the ability to climb ladders, work on roofs or other high places, and crawl in small spaces such as attics. Able to utilize required personal protective equipment, such as a variety of respirators. ***** OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Education & Experience Experience with general home construction including, but not limited to, residential HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems is preferred. Building construction experience using energy conservation techniques, materials, and analytical tools is preferred. Knowledge of energy auditing and/or inspections is a plus. Proficient with computers, including experience in Microsoft Office applications and comfortable using a tablet or laptop out in the field.
