Air National Guard Units SUPERVISORY FIREFIGHTER (TILTE 5) in Louisville, Tennessee

Summary THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a SUPERVISORY FIREFIGHTER (TILTE 5), Position Description Number NGT6306000 and is part of the TN 134th ARW, Air National Guard. This vacancy is not eligible for membership to a labor organization. Responsibilities As a SUPERVISORY FIREFIGHTER GS-0081-10 (TITLE 5) you will act as Assistant Chief of Operations on a 24-hour duty shift, participates in the administration and planning of a comprehensive fire prevention and firefighting and rescue program of a sufficient magnitude at the installation. Serve as the on-scene commander of a fire/crash scene until relieved by the Fire Chief or Deputy Fire Chief. Supervise fire alarm communication center operations to ensure all firefighting equipment and personnel are dispatched as required. Perform supervisory personnel management responsibilities. Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience controlling or extinguishing fires as a member of an organized military, industrial, volunteer, or governmental fire department or brigade; rescue operations; detection, reduction, or elimination of potential fire hazards. Operation of fire communications equipment; controlling hazardous materials incidents; developing, implementing, or providing training in fire protection and prevention; firefighting and fire prevention theory and techniques; fixed and mobile firefighting equipment operation; planning, directing, or carrying out fire protection and prevention programs and operations and/or performing emergency medical services. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 1 year at the next lower GS level or have at least 30 months experience, education, or training in one or more of the following areas: (1) Controlling or extinguishing fires as a member of an organized military, industrial, volunteer, or governmental fire department or brigade. (2) Rescue operations. (3) Detection, reduction, or elimination of potential fire hazards. (4) Operation of fire communications equipment. (5) Controlling hazardous materials incidents. (6) Developing, implementing, or providing training in fire protection and prevention (7) Firefighting and fire prevention theory and techniques; (8) Fixed and mobile firefighting equipment operation. (9) Planning, directing, or carrying out fire protection and prevention programs and operations and/or 10) Performing emergency medical services. Education EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: Employee is required to be certified by the DoD Firefighter Certification System as Fire Officer III (includes Fire Officer I, II), Fire Instructor II (includes Fire Instructor I), Fire Inspector II (includes Fire Inspector I), HAZMAT Incident Commander (includes Hazmat Awareness, Hazmat Operations), and Airport Fire Fighter (includes Firefighter I, II), Apparatus Driver Operator- Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting, Apparatus Driver Operator- Pumper, Apparatus Driver Operator- Aerial, Apparatus Driver Operator- Mobile Water Supply (MWS).*NOTE- Required if Aerial and/or MWS is assigned.
