UCLA Health Staff Research Technician I in Los Angeles, California

Description

Come join our exceptional Department of Neurobiology, and help lead the advancement of cutting-edge basic science research into explorations of the brain and central nervous system. With guidance, supervision and direction from the Principal Investigator, the SRA 1 will have technical, administrative and general laboratory management responsibilities.

The SRA I will be involved in:

  • Performing 2P calcium imaging and optogenetics, running behavioral assays, and performing computational analysis techniques.

  • Assisting in breeding and maintaining mice colonies.

  • Ordering supplies, chemicals, rodents and equipment for the lab.

  • Supervision of biohazard and hazardous materials used in the lab; includes proper disposal of waste materials.

  • Assist in the designing of experiments, and assisting the PI or Associates in preparing reports, abstracts, and publications of data.

Salary range: $26.52- $31.63 hourly

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Neuroscience or equivalent.

  • Experience in systems neuroscience techniques and behavioral neuroscience techniques.

  • Proficiency using PCs, and basic applications such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) and Statistics packages.

  • Ability to work independently and follow through on assignment.

  • Demonstrated ability to work with accuracy and attention to detail; strong organizational abilities with ability to maintain complete and accurate records.

  • Effective communication skills (ability to effectively communicate results), and interpersonal skills with the ability to work within a team.

  • Ability to organize and present results in an appropriate format.

Master's degree in Neuroscience or equivalent preferred.
