    Position description

Multiple postdoc positions are available in the laboratory of Dr. Chao Peng at the Department of Neurology at University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Peng lab focuses on the molecular and cellular mechanisms of alpha-synuclein and tau-related neurodegenerative diseases including but not limited to Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, and multiple system atrophy. We develop cutting-edge disease models and apply powerful genetic, multi-omics, system biology, and high throughput screen methods to investigate a wide range of topics related to the development and progression of these diseases. We are particularly interested in the transmission, conformational diversity, and biological consequences of pathological proteins in neurodegenerative diseases and the role of neuron-glial interactions in disease etiology. We also work with companies and academic collaborators to develop novel therapeutic strategies for neurodegenerative diseases. Our publications are well-recognized by the neurodegenerative disease community including Nature, Nature Neuroscience, and Nature Reviews Neurology. The laboratory environment is highly collegial and interactive. Please visit our lab website https://penglab.dgsom.ucla.edu/pages/ for more information.

Salary range is $64,480 - $77,327.
