UCLA Health Laboratory Assistant 1 - Neurosurgery in Los Angeles, California
Description
The Lab Assistant I will support experimental research jointly on glioblastoma
immunotherapy. As part of this work, the position will entail being responsible for laboratory maintenance which includes: the disposal
of chemical and biohazardous waste, autoclaving and cleaning of lab equipment and supplies, ordering and maintaining inventory of
laboratory supplies, and ensuring the lab space abides by institutional safety standards. Other necessary responsibilities include
processing of clinical biological samples, maintaining detailed sample and experiment records, cataloging sample inventory, and
retrieval, transport, and shipment of biological samples. Necessary skills and experience include knowledge of sterile technique,
peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) isolation, microtome sectioning of tissue, and tissue culture. The Laboratory Assistant must be able to follow
standard operating procedures and work collaboratively with others.
Please note that this is a full-time 6 month limited position
and may convert to career.
Salary Range: $19.32 - $22.37/Hourly
Qualifications
Required:
Ability to prioritize workload when faced with multiple tasks.
Verbal and composition skills to convey detailed medical information.
Excellent typing skills.
Working knowledge of PC including the following software: Microsoft Office
Ability to perform with frequent interruptions.
Preferred:
Knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint.
Lab Experience minimum three years.
Bachelors degree in Life Science.
