Job Description:

The Opportunity 

An exciting opportunity to lead the newly formed New Site Opening and Infrastructure team within Running Great Restaurant Technology, the Technology infrastructure and NSO Manager will be responsible for defining and implementing viable strategies and plans that meet McDs targets for New Site Openings for Technology, whilst delivering a robust and secure infrastructure to all UK&I restaurants and corporate services. The work will cover technical, procedural and behavioural aspects, working across multiple partners, functions and markets to achieve these goals.

A leadership role, that will require not only strong technical expertise, but also exemplary people management and leadership skills. This role will sit on the Technology Leadership team and be an active contributor in shaping broader technology strategies, plans and roadmaps to achieve the overarching strategy and plans. . 

What will my accountabilities be?

  • Provide leadership and team management to the newly formed NSO and Infrastructure team, developing and leading an effective, high-performance team, retaining and attracting key talent to ensure continuous improvement in staff competencies, skills, and knowledge.

  • Line Management of 2 Direct Reports (both G4) as well as broader team management duties for more junior members

  • Define and oversee the implementation of the UK&I infrastructure plan, aligned with global standards.

  • Define and oversee the implementation of technology work in support of meeting yearly New Site Opening Plans, importantly assessing changes required to meet the increased demand for NSOs in 2025-2027 in line with McDs Accelerating the Arches global strategy.

  • Define and lead the implementation of plans for technology integration with IRLX and other store conversions.

  • Leadership point of contact for all vendors who support McDs on infrastructure, network, or new site openings. This will include but not be limited to key engagement with VM02, Cap Gemini, Acrom, Span, Celestra and Vista. 

  • Working closely with construction, seeking areas for continuous improvement, both in processes, technical offerings, and ways of working between teams

  • Accountable for the resolution of infrastructure and/or network production problems, working closely with the Service Operations team.

  • Work closely with our global risk and infrastructure teams on UK&I alignment to global strategies, building strong relationships to influence market priorities.

  • Work closely with our UK&I vendors to implement new infrastructure or network solutions.

  • Accountable for implementing global tools that the UK&I market agree to roll-out. 

  • Leadership custodian of network control and compliance processes.

  • Accountable for work to drive infrastructure and network P1 and P2 incident reduction. 

  • Role will play an active role in broader technology initiatives and plans as part of the Technology Leadership team.

  • Produce reports and presentations to drive greater MI analytics, supporting improved decision making across the Technology team.

  • Work closely with Technology Cyber Security to support overall market technology risk reduction.

  • McDs escalation point for network queries from all appropriate vendors on infrastructure or new site queries

  • Support the Director of Technology on developing forward plans, strategies, and roadmaps.

We are looking for a technically astute, people focused strategic leader to join the Running Great Restaurant Technology Leadership team. Who are my customers?

The role will report to the Director of Technology in the Running Great Restaurant Technology Team (RGRT) and will have close working relationships with IT partners including: VM02, Span, Acrom, Cap Gemini, Sopra Steria and Vista, whilst collaboratively working with all Technology teams, RSG, Operations and Field Teams, the UK & ROI Restaurants and Franchisees. 

 

Qualifications:

What background do I need to have?

The right candidate will have the following background:

  • Extensive  experience working in technology roles, ideally with infrastructure experience 

  • Multi-year people management experience

  • Proven experience in Cisco/Networking and SD-WAN 

  • Experience of working with multiple vendors, driving service improvement and outcomes.

  • Experience of working with multiple vendors who focus on infrastructure services .

  • Proven experience in implementing Continual Service Improvement (CSI) processes and applications. 

  • Proven stakeholder management skills up to and including Executive management teams.

  • Pragmatic, thoughtful and customer focused attitude

  • Strong communication skills, a curious mind set, is confident and can work independently.  

  • Strong customer centric orientation 

  • Franchised or QSR experience is desired. 

  • Preferable to have technology experience of opening retail or hospitality units at scale. 

  • Hospitality or Retail experience is preferable.

  • Work with energy and passion and inspire the same in others, focused on own and the team’s development. Management experience desirable

  • Build a feedback-rich environment that inspires and models the exchange of feedback. 

  • ITIL Problem Management qualification desirable and strong analytical skills (desirable, not critical)

  • Appropriate network qualifications based on experience levels (desirable, not critical)
